I've got a spoon front strut bar left from my EK

now I know this will fit on my DC2R, but I've noticed that the stock one mounts on the chassis instead of over the struts.

so does anyone know which one will be better? my spoon or the oem Type R one?

the OEM type R one / EK/dc2 vtir bars are only chassis reinforement and mount just above the suspension tops either side of the engine bay. IMO it slightly reinforces the body and on the limit ( hard cornering etc) it gives a slighter tighter and more confident feeling from the front)
The spoon strut bar you speak of mounts to the tops of the suspension. IT directly links inbetween , and IMO with my last CARBING strut brace it tightens the front feeling considerably , perhaps provoking more understeer on the limit.

I think you should stick with a OEM ITR brace or a EK/DC brace .

Mmm...you know you want to blow a bunch of cash and get a full rear memoryfab semi-roll-cage setup in the rear :P

relevant - i recently saw some random branded "double brace" on the yahoo.co.jp auctions for EG/DC/EK - mounts the same as you have above Dave but was a single item. Looked pretty good but was some no-name item. Ill try and find a link somewhere.

the civic chassis brace is in front like dc2 ones. that has just been reversed around like egsi said

My car JUST fits two bars. Is it worth me selling both of them and getting a Spoon one?

weezer that design looks alot like the generic one I had on my EK
When I put the spoon on there was a notifable difference!
the spoon is alot thicker than that so I'm not sure it'll fit with the chassis brace

tinkerbell

well it DOES feel better...

comparded to ITR chassis brace alone, the addition of the Cusco strut brace made a difference to how the car felt...

cool thanks for that tink... i think i had better go and make myself a strut bar to fit around the spoon one now.

I have a spoon strut bar on the front, and a vision rear strut bar and car seems to handle fine.

Unfortunately can't tell you the difference from stock, as I bought the car with them on already.

coilovers help too lol.

Any of you guys interested in my haircut ?

hehehe.

Anyways i think a bigger sway bar is more important than all those bars in the front.

But if it was out of the oem ITR or spoon I'd keep the ITR, spoon one is over rated imho. (and yes i know they bolt on differently but is it worh the $$$ ?)

Yup.

Its far more important to have your suspension tied in properly via a larger rear and then front swaybars .
No point having one or many strut bars/chassis braces , if your cars suspension is STOCK.

A rear then front strut bar/chassis brace should be applied/installed after larger front and rear swaybars , to further aid cornering ability.

IMO , only upgrade the upper rear with a nice thick strut bar - leave the frotn with a OEM vtir/itr chassis brace

another thing to note, when installing the 2, the spoon one was quite a bit lighter than the OEM Chassis brace.

anyhow, for the moment I'm leaving the Spoon Front/Rear Strut braces on, car feels great
