Hi,
EDIT: thought my dizzy was feked, but it's not according to the rebuild place.
Thinking the timing belt may have jumped, any thoughts?
Spark plugs look ok, spark leads are quite new. Spark plugs stink of fuel and i can hear the pump prime which means shouldn't be a fuel problem.
would a mod be able to cahgen the thread title pleease?
thanks...

Could even be your coil........or main relay

yup it could be the coil also, but i'm going to try the ICM first since these are known to be a problem.
It's not my main relay as my fuel pump is priming okay. (can smell fuel everywhere too)

Sent my dizzy off, checked out okay...
it's been suggested that maybe my timing belt has jumped a couple of teeth...
any thoughts? Is there anyway to tell for sure? =\

Updated the thread title for you.
As for your problem..have you confirmed you have spark?
Also, if your spark plugs smell of fuel that's not a good sign. Ben had a similar problem to this after we did his gearbox and it was a combination of the following (a chain of events. The bBattery was poor so the car wouldn't turn over and as a result there was spark, but not enough to turn her over and as aresult the plugs got foulled.
I'd recommend you use a set of working spark plugs, try a fresh battery (especially if it has been sitting there awhile) and also check your plug order (the cables going from the dizzy othe spark plugs.

thx wynode.
hmm i'll fill u guys in with the whole story incase it helps at all.
i went out for hte night, went to the supermarket, shut off car, started it again and went somewhere else. Parked car for like 30-40 mins then went to start and it started fine. Drove 10 metres and car stalled. Car would not restart.
20-30 mins later car started again, we thought it was a loose wire going from the alternator to the dizzy (what do these wires do??). Drove about 5-10 mins home and car died, would not restart.
Tried again next mroning, same thing. Sent dizzy off to be rebuilt (i was so suire it was the ICM or coil), but the dizzy place sez the dizzy is fine! (WTF)
I'm going to have to get the car towed to a workshop...:thumbdwn::thumbdwn: i hate not knowing whats wrong.
I believe the plugs stink of fuel bceause i've tried to crank it so many times and so it got a little flooded.
My battery is fairly new and all electronics power up when i go to accessory. The cranking sounds very strong so i dont think its the starter motor.
Bad alternator is another thought but im not sure what symptoms i should be experiencing from that other than complete power failure (whcih i dont have).

You have to:
1. take one of the plugs out.
2. (with the lead attached on the end of it ) hold it agains a metal part of the head (this completes the circuit) with a pair of pliers or an insulator so you don't get electricuted.
3. get someone to crank the engine and note the spark (not just whether its there....but whether its nice n bright).

hmmmmm....could be the timing belt if you just had your timing bbelt changed!!! cause if there is power, fuel and spark it should start
