I've done some research and found that there is actually no difference between the EK4 JDM and EK4 AUDM engines... both are b16A2 and hvae the same internals, gear ratios, cam lift/duration, etc etc etc

so where did the 7kw at flywheel difference go between the 2 versions?

Was it all in the tuning> and if yes... what PART of tuning? air fuel rations? igntiion?

octane levels in fuel ?

they tuned it down DUE to octane levels in fuel... the octane levels in fuel didnt actually accoutn for the 7kw diff at fly i dont think

what PART of the tuning is different tho... neoen know?

the car is just detunned due to australia fuel having lower octane levels

ok considering that its detuned....what PARAMETERS have been detuned?

also the compression on JDM is higher slightly. Again due to our poor fuel quality.
It really shits me that we get crappier Hondas

Yep, compression is where the 7kw is at.

That's so crap that we get crappier fuel. Isn't there base fuel at something like 102 octane?

hate that. Why do we have to guzzle the crap of the world? lol the way i see it the govt. should eliminate regular petrol, make what is now 'premium' fuel the base fuel and cut the taxes on it so that it costs the same as regular at the moment, then have the 98 octane as the new premium? The amount of greenhouse wed cut doing that could earn the government some cash (through some greenhouse reduction reward system they have). dear me, this isnt even really related to the topic. But yes octane levels mean we get lower tuned cars. You could buy the octane boosters, but they dont really do that much if you ask me and are a pain to use.

we dont exactly get the crap of the world. the fact that we can get 98 ron is good. US gets screwed though. its hard to get anything above 95 there and if you can its $$$.
but yeah all the diffs between the engines and ecu are to accomodate for our poorer fuel and to keep within emmision standards

octane boosters kill spark plugs...

ahhhhhhhhhh well so it seems no way to get it back... *sigh*

I don't think octane boosters kill plugs, its only if your engine is running rich that plugs usually get fouled. Higher octane just helps with better and efficent burning, producing more power. What do you think the difference between regular ULP and PULP is then?

ive been wondering about that issue too.. "why are jap engines slightly more powerful??" so i came to my own conclusion.. its probly the ecu.. as thats the only difference i can see..

All jap engines have higher compression, and different fuel mapping. SOme also have differences in cams and springs. All mainly due to fuel conditions.

Our cars are all retarted so that they don't detonate due to our crap fuel
