hi guys,

im thinking of boosting my CRX and as the title says, i have a d16a8 with 200,000 k's on the clock. im keen to boost it. what i want to know is, will it be safe to boost this engine with this many k's on th her or should i ditch the 'd' in favour of a newer, fresher 'b' for boosting? The 'd' has been well looked after and serviced regularly. please help

If the engine has been well looked after as you say then boost it to 7psi. This should not put an amount of stress on the motor to kill it for another 100K hahaha. Even if it does, D engines are cheap and plentiful.

Hey Mick,
Just so you know, I boosted my B16A2 at about 219 000kms last year and the car has been running fine. I think it is fine taking that the car has been serviced and looked after. Get a mechanics opinion. Take it to the guys in my signature. I'll get you a good deal.

Just do it man, you have a lot of the gear already. :D

get a compression test and a leak down test... if all comes out well, boost away!

and if it comes out negative, build the internals on the D

built D > stock B

I think the D's are great motors to boost, just like everyone else said, get the engine checked out and see if everything is still running nicely, if your pushing 7psi as a daily driver i dont think you'll see many problems with it, just get a really good fine tune... if you want hit up d-series.org the guys in the states seem to love boosting the D's

Yeh, like everyone has said, if its been looked after its all good :)
If you're unsure then do a few tests and get it checked out by a mechanic to ensure that the engine can handle it.
Boosting at 7 odd psi should be fine on the stock internals/compression.

Yeah d16a/zc is a neva say die engine boosting at low psi shouldnt be a problem i have a friend with a D16A8 thats got 200,000+k's on it and its boosted and its still running hard and strong:thumbsup:
