What are people's opinions on reground cams?
Steer clear of them or they are fairly good?
I heard basically cam life suffers a bit...

There are different Vendors around the place that offer Regrinds... and each claims theirs are the best...

main things that can go wrong with regrinds - is warped cams, incorrect profiles... and actual structural damage due to heat etc.

there are some places that show you a complete process... and guarantee their work... eg: www.deltacams.com

Im guessing you're running a D-series engine?

No I don't drive a Honda ;)
It's a MIVEC, and the off the shelf cams for the engine is $2500 + cam gears, springs etc etc

www.Crower.com and www.skunk2.com. Skunk might do it. A friend said he had his done there but there is no link to see if they do. Crower I know does it. There are a few local shop here that do it but the bigger companies are more likely to offer a better warranty.

www.wadecams.com <-- they use fresh billets and are in Melbourne

the worry with regrinds is the method. the shit one is:
- blobbing on some weld and "re-grinding" the profile. obviously its not seamless coz its welded.... this is guaranteed to come off over time.

there is another method can't remember....
