nope, both powered by a B16A. Just one is in a CRX shell and the other is in a Civic shell

Both are JDM spec (Civic andCRX) - different interiors and shapes from the firewall back - but that's the only difference.
People that drive EF9s are cooler than EF8 drivers - that's the major difference :D
SiR CRX

EF8 is the CRX SiR
EG9 is the Civic SiR
EG2 is the Del Sol SiR
EG6 is the Civic SiR
;)
or more specific
EF8 - CRX SiR
EF9 - Civic SiR
EG2 - Del Sol SiR

EF6 = JDM 1.5 dual carb
ED9 = AUDM CRX Si :D
ef6 - AUDM CRX
wouldn't that make it a ED6?

EF2 - Civic Sedan + ZC?
EF3 - Civic Hatchy + ZC (Si)
EF4 -
EF5 -
EF6 - CRX + 1.5 Litres of fury (1.5x)
EF7 - CRX + ZC (Si)
EF8 - CRX + B16A (SiR)
EF9 - Civic hatchy + B16A (SiR)
ED3 - Civic 1.5 Sedan (GL)
ED6 - Civic 1.5 Hatchy (GL)
ED9 - CRX 1.6 (1.6i-16)
ED5 - that funny looking shuttle thingy (?)
IMHO, EF7's and ED9 are the same car, except we never got nice extras like glasstops, heated seats, folding mirrors, and the infamous "1-mile" seat etc..
I don't know anything bout EG's though...only got love for the EF's

You're missing the EF RTi AWD Sedan from the list, not to mention all the other permutations of the Hatch/Sedan. I CBF'd looking it up on Honda's History site though =D
BTW - I have scans of a lot of the Euro and USDM brochures - and the JDM SiR brochures - unfortunately it takes up about 5 CDs :) I need Broadband and a host.
differences between siR and siR2?

I agree on the optional extras but disagree on the ZC stuff though... I've understood that the ZC *is* a D16A8/D16A9 (and vice-versa), just the block-stamps are localized, so the JDM ones are stamped ZC, where as our imported engines are stamped D16A8... Same goes for the VIN chassis number on the cars themselves. Their's are EF7xxxx, where as ours are JHMED9xxxxxxxxxxx
Here's a quick google...

Note that the D16A9 weren't mentioned but are the same as our D16A8's (but have no cat)

I tend to disagree as the yanks I know that run ZC conversions find more power in them than the D16A8s. automotiveforums has whole threads about the differences. It has to do with comp ratios as I recollect, but I cant remember exactly.

Perhaps, but anyways, it doesn't really matter. Lets just say they're pretty similar.
ps: I was checking out those links in your sig setanta, even they lumped the 3 motors together as well... hehe ;)

Agreed SG. Yeah, they lumped 'em together after disbelief that the ZC existed with a D series designation :p They didn't get them in the US - just the UK and rest of the world. :)

civic4g.com is quite good too, it's got all the specs of USDM, JDM and EDM. It was my resource of choice when I initially made the decision to go SiR
