Just wondering anyone else was an issue of a squealing noise happening infrequently when you come close to a halt when u hit the brakes, I just had my car serviced 10,000km yesterday I told them of the issue of this prior to taking it in among other minor issues, they said I've got approx 25% left on frt and 15% left on rear and said everything should be fine on them now after clean and inspection...guy at the desk said something about as they isn’t much rain in Sydney at the moment dust builds up in brakes and its good to hose them down to wash the dust out of them to stop the squealing noise :confused:but one day after service its already come back again… the upside so far the brakes work fine…

Did u bed in the brakes properly when new?

Ive never had this issue b4 on my other cars Im pretty sure i bedded them in properly im smooth on the brake pedal all my disc's have no score marks on them...as the wear rate no i dont drive with my brakes on, however I'm using more brake then engine braking as I rather wear out brakes as I'm trying to conserve clutch and engine, plus Sydney has loads of traffic and being a field tech im always on the road...

maybe there's something sticked on your pads that makes the noise:D
you can try to rough'en the rotors so can tick out the dirty particle in pad if it is the cause... but as you mentioned that you have around 1/5 remaining on pads.. i would suggest try to finish the current sets of pads and get a new one... think that would be able to solve the problem!

dust builds up in brakes is the cos of the noise... i believe...
u car try break harder... warm up your break.
there will be NO such noise.
and of cos.... clean up your break regularly.

The brakes are already well warm well the squeal occurs which is what puzzles me my gut feeling tells me one of the front discs needs to be machined back a tad or the set of pads of got are suspect quality but atleast they stop me :D

16000km here and no noise from the brake whatsoever.
How can the brake pad wear out so quickly? I don't understand.
It doesn't seem normal to me.

The measures were given by the Honda techs I might get a second opinion on them with regards to wear the squeal...as for bedding period as far I've been told you just gotta be smooth on the brakes and try to break early until you get more and more bite on them btw Suntzu thats a wicked alias

um.... confuse here... :D
rotors should last at least 50.000km+ for needing to machine them...
one other thing, do you feel vibrate/pulsation on braking padel when apply brakes? or just plain squeals? if you do have vibration, then u might be having warped rotors :o

no vibration when I push the brake pedal down at all expect once i had to emergency brake and abs kicked in...this could be a pain in the ass...

if so it should be simple... dusts in pads :D
u can try rough the rotors at first...
if not, change pads...( you gonna need them soon anyway :o )

My brakes have a light squeal. Especially first thing in the morning. If I don't do some hard braking, the squeal stays. After about 30 minutes of driving and using the brakes, then the squealling stops. The brakes are still good with no vibration, so it is ok.

I've had this issue at 10000kms... squeel till stop.. now its not there tho. Had >50% brake pads.. was very annoyed. Just give them a good wash with high pressure jet.. or get a brake clean.

13000km

Just noticed "droning" type noise in last week from brakes.

Only at low speed and with soft application... like when parking

I had my brakes checked when I replaced the Clutch Master Cylinder today, the front was 35% Front and 30% Rear... Was told it'll last another 30ooo+ Kms on average...

Wonder if the weak brakes had anything to do with the car LOL!

My breaks were still good from memory.

For my last service (10,000km) only 25% was worn from front and 15% worn at the back. They commented that was excellent :p

EuroAccord13, how many km's you done so far?

I'd love to get better brakes tho in the near future, maybe if i ever get around to getting bigger rims :D

back onto topic - i have no brake noise, i get paranoid when i hear anything, always seems to be a car around me and not mine which is good :D

Due for a 6 month service... Will bring it in and ask Honda...

yer, same problem here, will check with the service guys at 10k. Sqeaks just before you come to a complete stop. Doesnt worry me too much but it does get annoying after a while.
