I was driving up the central coast today and decided to give the car a squirt and i got the car upto 180km/h (i know it was stupid and shouldn't have etc etc) As i hit 180km/h give or take, the engine light came on. I'm wondering if this is a speed limiter function or something? I've never taken the car to these speeds before and just wondering if anyone else has had the same thing happen, or if anyone knows why it happens? I turned the car off, and it started up as per normal, no engine light or anything
Thanks

i dont think its a problem man might just be a speed warning or something... i had mine at like 190 and didnt notice any lights altho wasnt really looking for lights or anything lol, but yea dont think it is an issue if its not on anymore..

I don't recomend doing that speed on the freeway from syd to central coast.... the roads are so crap and unpredictable :thumbdwn:

maybe the oil pump couldnt keep up at that speed? and hence the engine warning light came on? i have no idea..has it done it ever since? on your daily 180km runs? hehe

Oil pump is engine RPM dependant.....not related to wheel speed.
DO this (http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8218) and see if you are thowring any codes.

actually my check engine light has been coming on and off these fast few weeks.
when it turns on, i turn off and turn on my car, and doesn't come back on for a while. it's wierd, and it's only been happening when it's cold, really cold.
people tell me it could be my o2 sensor, but i'm too lazy to change it atm.
=)
but the check engine could be anything really, should get it checked out.
there's a place in five dock, nsw. that specialise in honda repairs and have all the computers/diagnostic tools for the older model hondas.

that's the place, honrepair in five dock.

even if it comes on and goes off again.....still do the ECU test that I posted up and it will throw an error code. Once you've got the error code, reset your ECU so the same code won't get thrown again (unless the same problems comes up again!)

From what I have seen these last few months, Honda do build awsome engine's but there sensors dont like to hang around for long, nearly every fault where the engine light comes on, its only been a faulty sensor and not the hardware ie water pump, dist,o2 sen, but dont kid you're self if the engine light comes on you do need to get it looked at, last car we did, the b16a wouldnt rev over 3.5k with out breaking down, dodgy wire that was grounding from ecu to dist! All the sensors have some part to play.

checked the ecu today and it trew 2 codes
22- vtec pressure valve
41- primary oxygen heater
any advice guys?
Also does anyone have any tips to get the 3rd (inside) 10mm bolt out from the FITV????
Its bloody impossible to get off and its hella tight!
cheers

the heater has most probably failed on your o2 sensor.
as for your code 22, check your oil level and opeation of the switch. a continuity test will do but you will need to apply air pressure to the sersor after you have removed it to make it change state.
try using a 1/4 drive swivle wratcet for the FITV

Run the ECU in open loop and see if it throws an O2 code.
This will definately tell you if its O2 related.
as for the VtecSpool, as per ECU-MAN, whens the last time you checked oil?

open loop as in little connector under the glovebox not shorted?
check oil a few weeks ago, and was ok (oil is only 2000km old) . I'll be checking it this afternoon when i get home, and hopefully fixing that bloody FITV which should be the cause of my high idle problem!! daylight permitting of course!
