I'm looking at putting a B18c (2001 ITR) engine into my b16a2 (EK4).
Was looking for some help if possible guys...
1)Was wondering if the wiring harness needs any adjustments or is it i just plug the B18c onto my b16 loom and plug the B18 ECU in?
Is it that simple? I know the mechanics are a direct bolt.
2)Also will the B18 block sit lower in the EK body? If so anyone know how much? (main reason is my extractors are very close to the ground as is and they are B16a ones) or will the block sit higher up (as i've been told the b18 block is slightly higher) and just give me better clearance?
3)Anyone know the optimal size for an ITR exhaust system? I currently have a 2 1/4 exhaust system do you think its too restrictive or should i got to a 2 1/2?
Thanks in advance

its all pretty much the same stuff... not sure about wiring but everything else should be about the same as it is now (with the b16a)

my suggestion would be to get a b18b block and build that bottom end with some high compp pistions then screw on ur b16a head. you have a motor which will be as powerful as a ITR. and youll have some change left to spend on the head or a good tune.

the harness should plug up fine

it is pretty simple. if going the ls/vtec way, golden eagle sell stepped dowels so you dont need to send the head away to a machine shop

from my knowledge id doesnt sit any lower. the only diff that i know of is that the b18c is 7mm taller than the b16a

2.25 is fine.

2 1/4 is fine for the setup. But if you want better top end get a 2 1/2

Your ek4 should be obd2.. so you shouldn't have any dramas with the wiring. Perhaps a sensor here and there may need custom work but other than that you should be good.
2.25 is fine yes, it depends on where you want the gains. 2.5" (done correctly) will give you a greater gains at top end but may sacrifice a bit of low end .. but with a b18c the low end shouldn't be a problem cuz its pretty torquey compared to the b16, all depends on what your after.
Another thing *could* be your throttle cable, may need new/custom mounting.. depending what your going to use but they are all simple easily fixed problems.
Good Luck with it

THanks using the whole halfcut.
I think the 2 1/4 should be fine as its all mandrel and has a hiflow cat and 4-1 headers (from my readins and what peopl ehave been telling me).
Just wondering if anyone knows if the sump is in the same position and sizing as the B16? cos i have b16 headers which situp higher than the b18 ones.

If u use the B16 extractor it will not clear the B18C block

bummer looks like i'll have to change the extractors, just wondering that means the lower part of the block sits lower right? or is it the oil tray that causes the clearance problem?
