If i have the stock short shifter and if 1st gear i go to 7000rpm and by the time i switch to 2nd it drops to 5000rpm...

well.. if i install the comptech short shifter which has a faster through.... will that mean that it will get into 2nd gear higher than 5000rpm?

if so... what rpm?

thanks.

You'll shift faster, and assume that it now drops to 6000rpm. When you let the clutch go, the RPM will drop to that matching the road speed in 2nd gear. It'll shift faster, but when you let the clutch go, the RPM will match the road speed.

Yup, in simple words, yes. :)

i dont think it would affect the revs..cos you are still changing at 7000 in 1st and doing 110kmh no matter how quick you change to second the revs will still be the same.....maybe if you said that you will get going in 2nd that split second earlier ..that would be more like it.

Yeah, once you let go of the clutch, the revs will still be the same before or after shortshift. The difference is that you shorten the time it takes to move the gearstick. That's the only part that is shortened.

u need a close ratio gearset to keep in the "vtec zone"

Short shifter can put more stress on syncros to match the gear speed because of the faster shift time. The extra stress would really only be noticed when the car becomes hard to engage gears at 150,000km though.
With a short shifter, a lighter flywheel works well as the revs will drop quicker and make matching the revs for smooth gear changes at high rpm better.
