I'm thinking of buying a set of Gram Lights for my car (EM1)...I always wanted 16s but considering the EM1 looks a little bigger, I'm now thinking 17s for it, since that will give me a bit more road clearance.

I'm wondering if anyone has got 17x7.5 size wheels on their car? I'm wondering if the 7.5 inch width of the wheel encounters any rubbing on the guard for a car lowered about 1.2-1.6 inches (40 series tyres of course)? I want to be able to take corners at speed, just like I can with the stocko 15s.

Any input for 16 or 17 inch wheels is much appreciated, thanks guys.

Yeah his wheels are actually the ones I want, but I wouldn't mind picking them up new. Just looking for some info at the moment, but thanks for the heads up mate. :)

hey dude hows it going?

the onyl problem i can think of with that width of wheel on ur car and that height is that it will scrub on your splash guards inside ur guard, this is only a minimal problem, the way i fixed it was to cut the splash guard where it rubbed (u can do this with a box cutter) and thats it, oh u will also need to roll your rear guards...i got 17x7.5 inch gram lgiths and my car is slammed, doesnt scrub at all over bumps, even with 5 ppl in it but it does scrub on full lock

BTW let me know if you want to buy my rims hehe, i lve them but i would sacrifice them in order to do some other mods

Woah, nobbs I have to roll my rear guards?! Yikes. I seriously don't wanna do that hey!

Looks like the 16s are the go. 16x7 with 205/45 should look pretty look yes?

Yep 17" look damn good but you may have problems fitting them. Don't think 16" rubbers are much cheaper than 17" though.

i got em1 with 18x7.5 rims with 215/35/18 rubber no scrubbing at full lock, guards aren't rolled either and lowered with springs only. the ocassional scrubb above the guard goin over bumps at high speed but minimal.

I think for 16s they are around $400 or so a rim. That's interesting ian, got any full size pics of your car? What springs are you using?

yeah likewise..... i had 17s, king springs only and they scrub going over speed bumps fast and also when full turning lock over a slight bump in the road, that's when they scrub for me.

15s or 16s.

I had 17s before looked too big imho and tyres cost too much $$$$$

But if you;re on a budget spray your steelies gloss black and get thicker and wider rubber lol
