gday lads, just a quick question here (and dont flame me coz i DID search! lol). Next car i wanna get is a white DOHC civic vti-r coupe. Nice choice yes? Problem is I'm having a LOT of trouble finding one for sale! Is there a particular reason for this or have i just been unlucky? can anyone point me in the direction of one please? At the moment i definately wont have enough cash to get one, but i wanna know how much i gotta save up so i can get one. thanks for any responses.

They are extreemly rare... Most people wont let go of them! You cant afford to be fussy unless your willing to wait for one to come round that is in immaculate condition!

I think the good condition ones with relativly low km's go for anything around the $21,000 mark

vtir coupes are kinda rare, so its hard to come accross one for sale, when i was buying mine i wanted a white one or a black one, i waited and looked for a couple of months and didnt find one in those 2 colors, so i settled for a silver one...

but yeh GL with the searching, if u find a white one do u want to swap?? lol

I wanted a white one when I bought mine, but yeah you can't choose the colour of used cars so black it is, lol! Vti-R Coops are rare as ducks teeth mate, you're prolly looking at around $20k for a good one. with 60-70,000 k's on it.

Oh and ^^$14,995 for an EM1 with those kms? Either the kms aren't genuine or it has been in an accident or five.

That will make a fair dent in your wallet. If your going to fork out for all of that, you may as well get some outragous colour, or at least not a standard white.

If you look at the engine code, it says D16Y8 which is an EJ8 = 96-98 Civic Coupe VTi..and I don't know what the engine code for a GLi is.

VTi-R Coupes have the B16A2 engine

Ah okay. Sneaky advertising. I just had another look and they have left out which model it is, ie VTi, GLI, etc. I guess it's typical of Westmore Honda though. Sorry to make you blow your load for nothing! :D

EJ8's are the VTi coupes.. EM1 is the VTi-R coupes... VTi's have a SOHC "fuel efficient" vtec

engine... where opposed to VTi-R's (EM1's) have a DOHC B16A vtech engine ;)

Im not taking a shot at your judgement, or turning this into a topical debate (although i am hijacking your thread :p), but it only takes one mistake and your cars gone. No one plans for it to happen, but it still does. Even if it isnt really your fault, it still might be in the eyes of your insurance company. I know a few people (<20yo) who took out 3rd party on their cars and ended up writing them off. Ive never really understood why people would take such a risk with an investment such as a car, simply to save a few bucks.

But of course its entirely up to you :D

well thats coz i dont really have that sort o cash to spend on insurance, when it could be spent on mods. surely once i leave uni and get a job i will, but not at the moment! lol as for hijacking, dont really care as long as it stays relatively on topic.

Well personally, id protect my investment before I went modifying it, because you might not have a car to modify in the end.

EM1, a rare sort!!! When i was looking around for an EM1, didn't have much luck. Especially if you're going to be picky with the colour. During my 3 months of searching, I only found 2 EM1's and neither of them in my price range. Most of them go for 18k+ up to 21k in some cases. Although a friend of mine got lucky and picked one up for about 15-16k about afew months ago.

Anyways, I ended up picking up a red ek4 instead... they're lighter than the coupes ;)

My heart is set on it and now i just gotta work for one lol insurance sounds like a bitch tho.

same here man, im with AAMI and i paid $1480 for insurance, under mums name with me as nominated driver (i was 20 back then), so it goes by my age....the only thing is that my excess is 3gs!! :thumbdwn: but i couldve done that or pay $2890 and my excess would have been 1.5g's....

i chose the first option, it ends up costing the same amount if something happened neways *touches wood*

was looking for my em1 for about 6 mounths. Almost bought one last year but realised i didn't have the money. Test drove it and the dude was holding it for me but i had to pull out. 2000 model 39000kms, tie bars, strut bars, sway bars, type r short shift for $21,000. I was soooooo pissed that i missed that one. Funny thing was, about 3 moughts after that i saw it for sale agin from the same owner for $25000. I was confused.
