i think my mechanic is trying 2shaft me hard...

he sed

"you have two options, because i cant get any generic bearings for your gearbox its going to have to be genuine honda bearings, and its going to cost $1100 + labour, or your second option is a second hand gearbox + 2year warranty and that will be $950 + labour"

WTF? for bearings?

am i going spastic for a reason or do they really cost that much??

Which bearings are we talking about? The bearingset from Honda for the B series trannies are inzanely expensive.. What tranny is this?

The Bseries trannies area really easy to work on too, so Id reccommend trying to fix this yourself :) Get a Helms manual and go crazy!! www.helminc.com

When i rebuilt my crx gearbox with new bearings it only cost
about $350, (input shaft bearing, counter shaft bearing, new diff
bearings, and seals x3) these were from honda aswell.

I have an S13, i know it's a different kettle of fish but i had the bearings replaced as well as second gear itself for $950. My mates dad is actually a transmission specialist, so going by those prices it seems spot on to me. I was lucky he didn't charge me labour.

i got the car back today.. i was wondering.. why the F**K has my clutch gone soft? i had a mad stiff clutch and i could launch it good.. now its soft, its gay.. does that usually happen?

it was $890.. but incl labour was $1290
