Hey guys and gals,
I have had my eyes on a set of bright coloured lights, nothing too crazy but i was just wondering if the $150 Phillips ones (its something like 7000k light thingy), do the same job as those ones that the traders sell for $60-$70?

If so is it just the life length that is longer? Or am i better off buying the cheapies
I dont know anything about this sort of stuff so any input would be great.
Im not too fussy about the colour that the light produces as long as it is not the same as my kind of yellowish looking bulbs i have at the momment...

Can you please specify what you use, how much, and the colour of light they produce...

Thanks.

correct
(although i got mine at autobarn for $60)

much brighter than OEM ones, same wattage etc as well

the danger (?) in using higher wattage one is it may melt the headlight and you might be up for a brand new headlight assembly

but i'm sure people have used them with no probs at all

sif pay 150 bukz for halogen bulbs! esp those really blue ones... hardly giv out any light at all...

im using Philips vision 50+ atm...
givs out 50% more light.. n its slightly whiter/crisper than oem ...
paid 40 bukz for a pair of h4's (not including parkers) at autobarn...

Thanks a heap. Looks like ill be hitting autobarn tomorrow sometime... Oh a little off topic but damn $180 for OEM Honda floormats for a 94' Teg, its a little steep but it makes the interior look so much nicer...

Thanks for the reply's GSI-PSI... Cant wait for your car to be all up and going :p , Love the boost....

so can anyone confirm whether they burn the headlight housing? if they use the same wattage i'm assuming it's safe to use in the long run??

quessing they are nowhere near as bright as hids?

the 'blue vision' bulbs aren’t brighter than oem...they give out the same light output... but they are much whiter due to the blue coating they have..

the only bulbs which give out more light r the vision plus range.. they use the same wattage/power as oem which means theres no increase in heat.. so no danger in melting the housing..

is it worth the $$$ when it comes to choosing bright lights bulbs vs hids?

dude get the crystal vision phillip < they r nice n white n alil blue they are abt $99 blue vision is jst like a stock bulb to me <
but save abit more n buy HID = ]

^^v

bright light (oem wattage) bulbs r value for money imo... gives 50% more light output for what its worth
HID's on the other hand.. gives out 300% more light..
if you got the money ... good quality HIDs r worth it.. makes a world of difference..

meh.. but it depends on what ur after...
just bling or genuinely wanna see more road

yeah get the phillips or narva ones they have a 55w rating
dont get the ricey 100-> 125W ones
they gonna burn the housing for ur bulbs easy... happened to a mates corolla... was an expensive fix for some reason...

but damn _Daniel those lights look crazy on ur teg!

_Daniel, where did u get ur hands on those mtec's? I've only been able to get H4's in 4750k, and i didnt think they made any other size for some reason.

i'm attempting to modify my LS housing to fit my h4 mtecs, but i just found out the entire bumper has to come off before i can get my headlights out :( Now i'm considering fitting a smaller bulb in so it'll be easier, and returning those H4s...

For the Philips bulbs, the higher u go up in the range, the shorter the bulb life. From memory, i believe the life of the Diamond Visions were about 1/2 - 1/3 the life of a standard bulb. Hard to believe ay? The Philips rep told me "its sorta like a premium for having such a high temp light"

Thanks.
MTEC 4350K - White light, blue tinge. Much cleaner white than those cheap ones. All MTECs are made in Japan
MTEC 4750K - Blue light, look like HIDs (as u saw on _Daniel's teg)
Philips Bluevision - Bright light, still slightly yellow light
Philips Vision Plus - Brightest light available, standard colour

I believe the Crystal Visions and Diamond Visions are very similar to the 2 MTECs, but I havent had the chance to compare them side by side.

not sure if I'm allowed to post non trader information so if u wanna know where just PM me.

another thing to note is my shitty camera phone made the light somewhat brighter than it really is, its a nice color and looks great, but by no means is it a cheap fix for HID's as I'll be upgrading when I get some $$ :)

but ppl, be careful with 80w bulbs. Yes they are brighter than OEM but it exceed the 55w standard wattage. i think it would be better if you put some enhancement to the wires to make sure it would gone out earlier than expected.
but by swaping 3-4 sets of bulbs you will giving yourself enough money for HID set which will last you 5 yrs +
its a good investment.
