hey guys, wondering if there are things to look for when taking off a car door.

ie, hinges or any common problems with taking it off.

thanks.

i'd reccomend doing this with a friend or 2
first remove the split pin/clip that stops the door from opening too far out
unclip any electricals that goto the door (rubber grommet thing)
usually most doors will have 4 bolts, 2 for each hinge
remove 1 bolt from the bottom hinge and 1 from the top hinge
now get your friend/s to hold the door
take off the remaning bottom hinge bolt, then the remaning top hinge bolt
done

if you dont have any friends, prop the door up with something like some wood with a cloth over it to protect the wood, i mean door

i've done exactly that armak81, but the thing is my door doesn't seem to shut properly.
it's maybe dropped a 1mm or so, but when it shuts it goes up and locks in place, open it again and it drops.

the bolts were a bitch to loosen, so i tightened the crap out of them but i still have the same problem.. know my problem?

you need to lift the door up while you tighten the bolt....

can i leave the pin in or do i undo that aswell?

i don't really understand why it would be off if the bolts are in tight.. the door doesn't move up or down even the slightest, it rocks the whole car.

ok guys, i figured the problem. the bolt holes in the door are around twice as wide as they need to, hence you can move the door closer or further away from the body of the car
