Wow! What happened? The first thing I can think of when I see that is hydrolock, or a valve dropping into the cylinder. Of course, many other things may have cause that. Is this your engine, or will you be getting a new one? If so, would you be interested in selling me your head? Ive heard rumors of people swapping the VTEC head. Also, it would be REALLY kickass if you could strip the engine down and take a bunch of pictures of it. That way we could learn a great deal from it :)

Yes, that's my car.. I'm going to strip the engine tomorrow to find out exactly what happened.. Basically the connecting rod broke into pieces and made 2 big holes on the lower block.

Make sure you take LOTS of pics! :) A broken valve could cause that. If the rod actually snapped, its because something stopped the piston from reaching TDC.

whoa....big hole. keep us up to date with the K20A engine transplant. by the way, did u check out in Hot4's mag a few months back, they featured a malaysian jazz with DC5 type R engine, 6spd gearbox, brembo brakes, dashboard and steering? that was wicked...jus like a DC5R in a jazz package :D

I'm pretty sure the valvetrain is ok because the engine died when it was doing 3000rpm, no mis-shift, no over-rev.. anyway, I will be able to find out more when i strip the motor tomorrow.

Sorry to disappoint everyone, the K24/K20 engine is not going into the Jazz.

the K20A2 costs around $3000 - $4000 depends on condition, K24A is about half the price, that does not include gearbox, manifolds, throttle body, fuel rail, injectors, loom. the price is only for the longblock.

I've done alot of research about putting K20A into the Jazz in the last 2 months, but at the end I've decided to buy a new L15A engine and use the K20A and K24A for another project. The main reason is because there's not enough room for A/C after the swap :( Also, this swap is very pricy, expect to spend $15000+

For those who are interested in doing this swap, you don't need to cut the firewall to put a K20A engine into the engine bay, but only if you are using a re-fabricated aftermarket Accuro Euro header. You will need custom mounts and custom axles, however if you are doing a DC5 brake swap, you can use the stock DC5 axles(depends on the mount position too). Jazz dash will work with the DC5 ECU, but expect to spend alot of time in wiring.

Also, K20A in Jazz can clear the hood, need to cut a bit of webbing under the hood though.. no need to buy expensive Mugen bonnet..

Are you located in Norway? It would be very expensive to post a cylinder head overseas.

It's going to be either an EK or DC chassis, still deciding.. depends on what car is available really..

Nah, its not that bad. The head isnt really that big or heavy. Like 15 to 20 kilos? Nevertheless, we cant get those heads over here, so if it can be used on top of the L14A block, its worth it :)

go ek you wont regret it, best handling chasis for that price range plus k20 will be unstoppable :p

btw how the L15 screw up? did it just die during driving, no accident?
