Welcome! You'll find alot of us oldies here, so just throw any questions you may have at us and I'm sure someone will know the answer!

I've bolted my earth down with the bolt which holds the lower rear seat cushion in place. I didn't want to drill any holes into the car, and this was the most convenient spot, and I can't really notice any sound degradation from it not being a 'clean' mount to the chassis. I just used a 4AG ring terminal to attatch it, and its been fine for 3 years.

sweet, ill check that part out. also, i just realised that i cant find a space to put the power cable through the firewall. any suggestions?

I agree with the bolt that holds the seat cushion in place, thats where i connected my ground cables. if you rub back the paint to bare metal then you will have a perfect earth. I have actually tested to see if the earth is ok with a multimeter and its all good!!

Yep, I grounded it at the same place too...seemed like the easiest option at the time.

The power cable slid easily through a grommet that was close to the centre of the firewall, a but closer to the passenger side. THen ran the power cable down the middle of the car, down the side and under the passenger seat.

Good luck with the install!

I'll add another possible option to TEG61E's, but it sounds like the same one! I found a 'blank', round grommet in the firewall near the charcoal canister, which comes out just below the air con in the passenger footwell. Take the grommet out, cut a little 'X' in it, and feed the cable through. You may need to get some sound deadening out of the way, but then the cable is easy to route around the ECU and the kick panel.

LOL I was different, I grounded mine to one of the rear strut tower bolt, the one that bolts the rear strut to the chassy of the car and I have hidden the cable right behind the rear interior trim!

ive got my power cable running through this exact gromet.... its perfect...
and just to be different to everyones bolt holding the rear seat, i found a bolt in the spare tyre well so ive got my earth there....

LoL theres alot of options. i like the tire well option as the amp will b sittin right on top of it. ill try that first, then probably the seat bolt. im not to sure about the grommet space, it looks like i bought the car with sum sort of box (alarm probably) in the engine bay, so i think that grommet has been used by the wiring for that. ill probably rip that out seeing as though the alarm doesnt even work 2 begin with.
ill keep yas updates. thanx felles

hmm after spending 13hrs on the installation yday im pretty happy with the sound results. my only problem is that i couldnt find the ground under the seat. i ended up pulling out the plastic covering in the boot, and using an existing earth under the boot lock. only problem is that i had 2 remove 1 of the rear light access covers to get the earth 2 the amp, after the main plastic piece was re-intalled. so its only temporary. could sum1 plz b more specific with the seat bolt? i couldnt find it at all, LoL
cheers

i dunno if everyone's is like mine. But i'll explain mine. The passanger seat has to bolts on the back of it. Remove the seat, i used the left bolt and then put ur ground into that bit and bolt it in tightly there.

Get into your back seat and put your hand right in the centre of the seat, and then in between the upper and lower seat bits. There's a smaller bolt which keeps the bottom portion of the seat in place. Removing this allows you to remove the seat.

That's confusing. Get in there and feel around!

I have 1/0 awg in my teg, you have to run it into the wheel arch, above the plastic liner, there is a massive grommet in the pillar that will take it straight into the car..

If you need any more help, just ask. I have a massive install in my Teg.

how do u get it into the wheel arch???

no chance of getting it through one of the grommets in the firewall

hmmm.... might have to go with 2ga

i reckon ude b able 2 fit the 2ga thru the firewall. i used 4ga thru the grommet left of centre just behind the centre console, and there seemed 2 b sufficient space for a larger size cable. ill probably b puttin another smaller guage wire thru there in the near future. sounds like ur buildin a big system, keep us up 2 date
