I recently purchased an aftermarket leather armrest from Italy for my Jazz. http://www.woodcompany.com/hondapage.htm

It is sooo much better than the genuine Honda accessory armrest and much easier to fit. Was also a fraction of the price especially when you take into consideration the price the dealer wanted to charge to fit the overly complicated Honda armrest/center console.

Fitment is easy with 3 long screws going inside the rear cup holder and then covered by the included felt.

The armrest slides back and forth and can be raised out of the way all together. An additional cupholder is revealed by sliding the armrest forward. The cup holder can also be slid out of the way to reveal a very usable lined center storage console. The leather is mighty fine and quality of craftmanship superb.

The same product is also meant to fit the Civic.

how much does the factory centre cost?

Honda accessories want $260 for parts and its certainly not hand crafted in Italian leather. Then another $200+ for installation.
Honda Australia says bend over and touch your toes.

Where does the screw goes to? Tighten? Stable?

3 x 80mm screws go into the square compartment behind the rear cup holder. They supply 50mm screws for the Civic. You lose the factory rear cup holder but get a cup holder where the sqaure compartment was. A Piece of felt supplied sticks over the the screws to line the cup holder. Holds it very securely. You can see what I'm talking about in the photos.

Yeah. Shot them an email asking if they had anyone local in Oz but answer was no so bought direct. They emailed me an order form which I filled in and emailed back. Not much point voice calling them unless you speak Italian.

Honda sells the console separately with the lid.. meaning pay twice... one for the console itself and one for the lid.... $200 installation?????????? are they crazy or wat?????

I missed not having an armrest and center console after my au falcon ute. Had a thermos and cup holder on both sides of the tailgate too.

Could hold 6 cans in the ute centre console and still close the lid no worries.

The jazz console is obviously a bit smaller but still handy to have somewhere not visible to put stuff when you park besides the glovebox.

cool....very practical for keeping stuff. but since its only screwed on one end, would't it rattle & shake a little when going over bumpy surfaces? does the seatbelt buckle rub against the console?

vividjazz

It clears the seatbelt buckles. The underside of the main section has a large rubber strip that sits on the handbrake. No vibration or rattles.

Doesn't inhibit the hand brake as the whole unit pivots.

All in all its a very clever design and more attractive than the genuine Honda accessory which looks like a stuck on afterthought.

I can't stand the slightest rattle in a car so would go insane if it made a peep.

Most importantly you gain an extra rear cup holder and we all know since the original release of the WRX in Japan that nothing is more important than cup holders. (FYI - The WRX was absolutely hammered by the critics when 1st launched in Japan as it had no cup holders, particularly in the rear.) I'm surprised Honda got away with only 1 rear cup holder out of the factory - how would 3 rear passengers survive.
