Not at all - just check the log books. If it's been serviced as per the recommended schedule (ie every 10,000ks), then there should be no probs. But, that said, take it for a drive and be really critical about anything that seems odd. And Don't ever buy a car without it being inspected before hand.

150,000ks is not a lot of k's on a 95 Civic - that's less K's than the average car of that year has. Realistically, it should have done over 200,000 by now, so it must have been looked after.

My 96 Civic has almost 170,000ks on it, and not a thing gone wrong, if that's any indication.

AFAIK , there is no such thing as a 1995 "vtir".

1995 was the last year for the EG civic shape , which came in Vti ( sohc , 96kw).
VTir came from the 1996 EK shape to 2000.
Check exactly what car it is before deciding whether its a "good" price.
And 150,000kms is well travelled for a car of that age - but if its been taken care of there should be little or no problems at all :)

Thanks for your speedy reply mate.
Actually, i did a test drive yesterday, i found the car is pretty well on performance and appeal, also it comes with full service history. But the only thing i concern is i heard a little sound came from the passenger's side window, sounds like "dededededede"...maybe just some problem from plastic parts...

it could be a late 95 build EK hatch.

I fail to see how saying that a car should have done over 200,000 but has less km's can justify a comment such as "it must have been looked after"

What would you rather.... a car that has 50,000 and had its neck rung every drive or a car with 150,000 and driven hard on the odd occasion.

Low kms in my view does not = has been looked after.

As for the $14k..... I'd only really pay max of 12 but that's cause I'm a tight ass.

If your worried at all about mechanical/physical problems, get an RACQ inspection done, those guys are the fussiest people in Australia and will pick up any problem with that car.

Maybe I should have elaborated my thinking a little.

What I meant to say was that it hadn't done quite as many ks as I'd expect on a car of that vintage and therefore I assume that the car has been somewhat looked after, due to this fact. Just an assumption that the previous owner was a bit meticulous, and drove accordingly.

The quickest and easiest way to see if the car has been looked after is to go through the log book/service history and see how often it was serviced and what has been done to the car.

Also cast a critical eye over the entire body work, inside and out, looking for warped paint, or discolourations, rust or overspray as clues to the accident history, and suss out the suspension and underneath (if possible) looking for abnormal wear, rubbing, etc.

My car's only done 100.105K and its a 93/94 model and its still crap

Well not so much now that I've fixed most things K's mean nothing IMO log books mean the world

yeah they might be built in 1995 but badged as 1996... thats the only solution i can think of seeing the 95 is usually an EG...

My car went and got a road worthy at a racv / racq certified mechanic, and because the car was in generally very good condition they didnt look that closely. And a frayed seatbelt passed thru undetected, this was annoying as i could have got the previous owner to replace it. So you cant really trust someone if they are a large business, u must asses the quality of there work. Also its good to look over the car in detail yourself, or with a friend if u dont know what your doing.

EK were released in late 95.

RACQ pick up every single thing up on the Gold Coast.
Our used car group is constantly getting them done, and they can pick up the tiniest details.
If I was given the choice to go there or Eddie the Expert, Id certainly take Eddie.
But if its purchased from a dealer, chances are they wont allow it. Buying privatly you would assume the seller would allow Eddie to check it out:thumbsup:

Hey sorry but your wrong there, I have a 95 vti-r.
I always thought they were from 96 onwards, but mine says Nov95.

And 150,000 isn't much kms for a 95 model. Don't judge teh car by its kms, but its condition. i.e engine, bodywork(lines line up, mouldings, cracks), sunroof, any leaks. look underneath etc. then and there u can tell its condition.. for 14k, thats just a bit to much. Spend around 12k for something like that. Best ofluck

Yeah...depends on what add-on parts are included with the car too.

But I think 14k is reasonable. Gives me something to think about too ;)
