Hi guys,
Does anyone have the Pioneer DEH-P8650MP head unit?

taken from pioneeraus.com.au
If so im just wondering are you possible to random manually without having to wait for the song to finish? Cos i sure cant, even if i have random on, and press next, it just jumps to the next track. Damn it shits me! One of the better Pioneer head units and it can't even do one simple thing the lower grade Pioneer head units can.
Anyone else have this same problem? SOMEONE PLEASE HELP! LOL :o

he means, when u press >> on the HU, he wants it to go to a random song.... and not have to wait for the entire track to finish, as when he ppresses next, it plays the next song on the cd, not a raqndom one

easy enough done.
Turn random on. find song. take random of, skip to next song. not hard.

i know with my pioneer if u press >> it will change to next song
to get get to play "random" press the "up" or "down"
i cant confirm if this works with "audio" cd's but it does with mp3 folders

What model are u using?
I got a 3550MP (2003) and the (up) and (dwn) changes to the next or previous folder, and the << and >> change to the previous and next track respectively. Same goes for all my mates pionner MP3 decks, 3450MP, 5550MP & 6550MP.
Yeah I've had about 3 Pioneer decks and when on random mode they don't jump randomly if you force it to change songs.

i think ive come to the conclusion to get myself a new head unit! LOL
i guess everyones got the same prob, pressin (up) (down) just changes the folder. and well since i cant force random its shitting me. haha
might save for the new pioneer dvd avhp5750dvd (http://www.pioneeraus.com.au/car_entertainment/visualaudio/avhp5750dvd/index.html) , my friend just got it, and everything the 8650 cant do it cant :D its probably the only good unit without those flaws.

DOes the 7550DVD have the Vehicle Processor thing, that displays all the car info? How do you find it if it does?

aha! but i've found a solution! woooohooo you say? :D
just make the first song in each folder a corrupt file - like one that wont play properly, so that when it goes to play that itll skip it, and go straight to the next RANDOM track!!
it works a drream. and yeh, pioneer's random shits me too.

What do u mean? The 8650 is supposed to be the top-of-the range unit. Everything that dvd player can do, it can do (besides the DVD function of course). U dont wanna downgrade ur unit like that, unless u dont have any use for the high end audio functions (13 band eq, listening position, auto eq etc...). I'm just gonna get an add-on dvd player/screen and inteface the audio into the 8650.
I've just spoken to the pioneer rep, and he's calling technical. I'll let u know how it goes...

No....only the latest model unit is compatible with that processor...

Only way to even SORT OF bypass this is to change the function of "next" from ff/rev to the other option... I have a DEH-P4650, have the same problem, but if I change from ff/rev to the other option (I cant reember what its called or how to access it on your head unit, I'll check soon) then holding next will skip through the songs 10 at a time... its ALMOST a random feature.

heheh....its called "Rough"....
U can also try pressing random numbers for direct track selection on the remote....hahha

Umm...on the 8650 I think to do first make sure the unit is in off mode by holding down the SOURCE button. Then next you hold down the MULTI CONTROL button (the other nob) and it'll bring up a set of menu. You should see the option from there.
Also, wow so much feelings about SHUFFLE feature not working as you want it to ahah. You got a remote, why not just use it and change track a random number of times?
