external wastegates

I've heard that external wastegates are not legal , but i've also heard that if they are plumed back into the exhaust they are legal. how exactly would you plumb a wastgate back into the exhaust?

Exactly that, you just plumb it back into your exhaust system. On the exit side of your external wastgate the pipe is welded conecting it into your exhaust system.
