On my friends car the B16A is acting weird.

This has happened on a number of times:
Taking off in first gear and the car just doesn't wanna go, the more you press the throttle the less it goes, this continues up to 3000 rpm at which point I changed gears into 2nd and everything is alright.

What can this be?
At the same time cut out is at 7500rpm which is too low for that engine. And VTEC kicks in at 5000rpm

It seems ok other than that
It backfires a bit though through gearchanges?

It had errors 08 and 22 but that was a while back and was apparently fixed by GPC. The engine light would come on before and VTEC wouldn't kick in, now there isn't any of those problems and engine light doesn't come on

sounds like a fuel problem or an air/fuel problem
so limits it to your map sensor or sensors on the exhaust manifold. or what fuel your running

as for the vtec kick in
is it a b16a or a b16a2
and do you know what it was out of.. if it was originally or it an automatic car the ecu was different.

It's a B16A I think it's a JDM model

Yes I heard the fact that it may be different from auto

Anyway to check out what ECU it is?

Codes 8 and 22 are top dead centre sensor and vtec pressure valve so it may be these things that are causing the problems even if they were supposedly fixed. Has your mate checked the codes recently? the car wanting to only rev to 3000rpm and dying in first sounds like the ECU is in limp mode but then you say it's fine when shifted into second, so I dunno lol..Have a search on Honda-Tech and see what comes up.

What do you mean limp mode? Like safe mode or something?

Tomorrow we'll check for error codes and also check if it's an auto or manual ECU and let you guys know what the outcome is
