Well hi there from me, mr Newb. This is my first post. Should i have said DC5S?

Bit of history.
Im a regular on Skylinesaustraila forums and have been for years now. Used to have a Supra with the 1jztt in and downgraded to a Nissan auster Xtt (for sale btw) with a Ca-118det in while i was at uni.

Just picked up my typeS with 6kms on teh clock last week and its not too bad but needs power bad and the brakes need more bite as well. Must say though the enigine is soooo responsive and it handles pretty good aswell, bit wierd under braking though.

So, what kinda mods can i do that are effective and stealthy? eg cant be seen by anybody sitting in car. So no honkin powerFC or anything hanging off the dash.
Suggestion for brake upgrades apart form the obvious pad change for green stuff or something similar.

Thought reccomendations ideas?

Oh and i got owned by a s13 silvia with a FMIC and minor boost control, zorst and filter, no other mods, beat him off the line but he flew past top of 2nd gear.

I quess you can start off with the usual cat-back e.g Fujisubo, HKS Hi Power or similar and an Intake e.g Injen CAI or Comptech/Mugen box

If you stilll have $$ to play around with after those mods then some Toda headers and high flow cat will be nice.

Told u i was a Noob. hehe

Got any ideas on price range there?

I gotta say from what i can tell the exhaust looks pretty good and it sounds ok too (no not rice factor but flow) it doesnt run out at high rpm like it would do with a poorly flowing zorst and ive heard the airboxes are pretty good too being map and all (is that right? i cant seem to find an afm). Im really after something like an ECU piggy back i could throw in and be able to remove later. Exhaust and filter are usually the first things id change but im not so sure here, i think they are already getting alot out of a little engine like this.

i say do clutch flywheel first if its manual(i dont know if theres a auto option) =P.. flywheel 4.1 kg should be ok..

nice i acutlually like the type S looks nice =P..

yeh everyone said goto bang for buck page.. thats a good place to start but i say work with what u have and save up for bigger things..

This thread has the answers - http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12532.

For performance, start with an Injen CAI (~$500), add hondata (I think ~$1000), then Toda headers ($1400).

Yeah check out the "Bang for Buck Mods" thats made a sticky.

This is just a rough price guide:

HKS/Fujitsubo $1000 - $1300 excl labour
Intake - Comptech = $530 from Traders, Mugen = $1100
Toda headers = $1500 excl labour from Traders

Quite expensive to turbos mods hey..

I guess it was driven around the lot, on/off trucks etc etc. Im not too fussed. Could be one of the dealers went for a quick thrash ;)

The car is for company use so i didnt want something i had to look after a great deal and that would suck down fuel. Plus for tax purposes it had to be new, the only other options were the wrx and the XRt. Plus is sure is nice to have throttle response for a change :D
Thats why i cant seriously mod it and it has to look absolutely stock and maintain the factory warranty.

What about an SAFC or something along those lines? i dont want to replace the whole ECU

get ur I/H/E done .. and u'll be seeing some improvement in performance...
i would suggest you lower ur car with some respectable coilovers and some koni shocks if you can afford them... and u'll be lovin the handling..
keep the standard rims though... type-S's have 17's standard dont they?
hope that helps you

welcome

6km for a brand new car is quite normal

the DC5 will be a bit of fun, but don't expect too much from it
and since you have a NA orientated car, don't look for cheap way out when modding if you expect to get results. get something that has a proven record unless you are wanting to do some personal research and development

hondata, panel filter and a dyno tune...do a few more kays in it and it will be making better power anyways.

I beginning to think it might be better to just leave it alone and start working on the kit car.

Looking at a clubman witha 3sgte in it, will take a while to put together but at least i have this to drive in the meantime. Anyone see top gear last year? teh ariel atom? ym engine with a supercharger, 500kgs, mmmm fast.

Just do the standard mods I/H/E should notice some power gains with these. Have anyone seen the Type R version yet? Looks ten times better than the crappy Type S version we get!! not to mention the extra HP..
