Hi All,

For a while now, I have been annoyed by little squeeks and rattles that come from my civics interior.. mostly plastic on plastic noises.. and vibration noises from my speaker noise.

I was thinking of removing the interior plastic panels and lining behind them with a thin layer of foam. Has anyone done this or have opinions of if they think it will work or not??

thanks all

Tried doing this on my teg, helped a little but still squeaking. Most prob just needs more foam.

sweet.... I hope it works for me :p

does anyone else have the door lock metal rod vibrate like shit when music is up loud?

I'm thinking foam behind/surrounding this rod will fix it... (I hope anyways)

I'm not going to stop at any measure until my noises are gone damnit!

thanks for the info.. sounds positive...

find the source of the rattling, and add weight to the objects (sound deadening material, electrical tape), or make sure they are where theyre supposed to be.

I had a few rattles in my car for a while, and it turned out that the little plastic clips had come out and were rubbing against part of the chassis, creating a "fingers on chalkboard" like sound.

hmm everything seems to be where it's meant to be..

A specific question I will ask is:

The door locks (on the inside obviously) rattle.. they aren't loose, its just the hole that a little metal rod goes thru is slightly biga then the rod itself.. and it has 1 or 2mm to move..

anyone fixed this before???

wrap a layer of electrical tape around the lock rod? should help if the rod still fits through the hole.

The worst thing is trying locate where the actual rattle is coming from. My tip for this is have a passenger ride in the car and when the rattle makes itself known have the passenger push the relevant panel to try and fix the problem.

from my experience , takign out the interior just MAGNIFIES the "rattling" sounds....as there is no longer seats etc to dampen the sound. Trust me - a drive thru OP on a silent night with no interior and you will be havign headaches for the next week )

I agree with you. Everything becomes noisy - but you do sort of get used to it.

I have an EG civic and it rattles everywhere. The worst one is on the passnger side and happens in first gear. When the window is down the sound goes but when it's up it's as annoying as hell. I tried putting foam between the door and panel on the passenger side and that seemed to help but it comes back all the time. HELP !!!!

Stuff Dacron Into all your voids in your car
or stip your interior and paint Tar onto the inside of your shell
great way to get rid of them
