hey all,
just wondering about aftermarket HIDs. Two questions that come to mind ;

1) anyone who has fitted HIDs, have you found that the left light seems to be too pointed upwards and to the left. i have tried to correct the problem but i have no idea how to center them correctly.

2) since i have 8000k blue HIDS fitted, what globe would be blue and bright enough to install into the fog light. the factory globes looks wayyyy silly because they are too yellow ( or maybe my lights are too blue hehehe)

cheers!!!!

Many lights are fitted off to the left so you can actually see what's off on the kerb side. It's the old fashioned version of lights that now swivel around the corner. A lot of country drivers will swing them even more so you can see what's way off the road (and about to run into your car!)

Don't go changing the fog light bulbs to match the HID's, the fog lights will be useless under foggy conditions.

agreed about the color mismatch. Euros with blue type xenon lights, and 'yellow' fog lights just look odd

Yellow colour helps you to see better in white snowy conditions or fog... Hence it's called a FOG LIGHT ..... :)

I've got yellow bulbs in my fogs now. Nice in the rain and fog as i can see a bit more clearly as the HID's just light it right up and it just reflects.

I can understand the mismatch but it looks quite nice, the bright HID's with the yellow underneath. Even the bright LED's i have for parkers that are white, but look blue because it's so concentrated haha

I like the colour contrast with the blue HIDs and the yellow fogs too!

Anyway know where can I get aftermarket HID globes? and for how much $?
I am probably looking for 6000-6500k.

you should be able to buy the globes from most places, however they are expensive... like $500-$1000 a set depending on how high u want the K to go. There are also 2 types of bulbs for the HID. i can't remember which bulb it is, whether it is the d2s or the d2r. I think it was the d2r.. but you should definately try and get a confirmation first :)

Then why have fog lights?
Anyway people shouldn't be having them on when there's no fog

I only use mine in heavy rain and foggy conditions.

However the yellow bulbs (most of them) are better on the eyes as opposed to those who get bright white fogs - which don't do anything in the rain/fog. They're just plain annoying and eye candy.

As bad as those idiots who use their rear foglight in clear conditions at night. And no.. they can't be *accidentally* turned on. Some people are just plain inconsiderate and stupid. I say that in the nicest way :)

In SA you can get booked for driving with your fogs on unless you're in bad weather, dim (unlit streets) conditions or on a highway...

Hear, hear to the rear fogs comment in normal weather!

I used to not use fog lights unlesss it's raining, but i don't give a crap anymore.
Everyone with fog lights turn them on all the time and to make it worse I've seen unmarked cop cars driving around with fog lights on, so i don't see a reason why I shouldn't when it makes the road a lot brighter.

Which state are you in Coladuna? In Victoria the cops can be anal about it. I have friends who have received an infringement notice - no first warning - straight to the fine. I think it was $100 or thereabouts.

Man fogs arent for weathery situations... they for style, straight up. Its a lux look and also that blue n yellow lights from Euro-R just looks ridicuous in my opinion... not 'fashion'.. sorry dude.

Much cleaner with same temp lights and fogs.

Firsly, it depends on the police. I had a friend with the exact same fogs as I had on my old car, which had parkers on the fogs as well which we both changed to blue bulbs to match our headlights. I never was pulled over as those parkers are always on when the headlights are in parker mode or lowbeam/high beam. He was pulled over several times and warned.

Police will pull you over for many reaons, one of them not being very logical :) I think they'll pick on the person due to the type of car and the type of person inside the car as well, i think number plate style and whether you are a P plater also plays a factor.

In the end it's not predictable if you will or will not be pulled over.

You also have to keep in mind that sometimes, what appears to be a fog light on some cars might not be classified as a fog light. They are more a less driving lights - yes they might look like fogs but they aren't as bright and are only as bright as normal headlights and that's a whole another story all together.

Fogs have both their uses and will vary depending on the person. I loved my foglights on my old car, it even had stock twin fogs on the rear to warn ppl to back off for tailgating me - always worked like a charm (something i envy in the Euro models in Europe and the fact they also have the heated side mirrors which i miss).

I saw fog lights as a cosmetic tool in my old car. For the Euro, it is cosmetic, but i felt it to be practical as well to have yellow fogs to compensate for HID's flaw in certain weather conditions - As funny as a HID + yellow might look, you do adjust to it, and i'm very fond of it as it stands out from the crowd.

that's my 2 cents worth.

I don't see a point in why people should start putting down other people in this thread.

im surprised by all the people saying that they got fined for having fog lights on...

i see people driving with them on at all times, even during sunny days. i agree that fogs are now mainly just serve a cosmetic purpose

i didnt know it was against the law to use fog lights unless it was foggy?

and whats so bad about having your fog lights on that you can get fined for it? some people say its bad that it glares, but ive never had glare from 'stock factory' fog lights.

unless people put silly after market fog lights, which arent posistioned correctly, then those glare really badly...

It's more of a courtesy thing i believe.

They can be annoying, and most stock lights are pretty tame, hence why i said they are optioned as driving lights rather than fog lights for some cars.

Viriix u have added ur "two cents worth" and hypocritically put me down in that sense.

U like the odd look and "adjust to it", but i personally dont. Sorry if that hurts to hear man, didnt mean to offend anyone :) :honda:

I want Euro-R's yellow fogs!
I would like to see the car in person, the pics of your low beams and fogs seem nice, they must be better in person.

Personally, i have now changed my stock fog bulbs to some taiwanese autojoy brand, they are a nice white colour,
match my parkers and similiar to stock 4300K Hid (especially from the drivers seat) but they are COSMETIC "can't see shit captain" style.
To top it off, in last weeks rain when i had them on for the whole week, the lense cracked (heat vs cold rain).

I will be changing back to stock ... soon.

The stocks light up much more road, but the whiter aftermarkets look better but everyone knows that ...
i was just after a bit of wank factor trying to stand out.

thanks for the feedback guys! im gonna have to defend those who use fog lights on clear nights, we arent a bad crowd as those hyundai excel drivers who use one rear red fog light. NOW THATS REALLY ANNOYING!!!!! ultimately i think its each to their own

I'm in Queensland. I've even been behind a marked cop car with my foggies on the other night and nothing happened.
Mind you, back when I didn't use my foggies, I've been high-beamed by other fellow dumbass motorists thinking that I was using high-beam. Not my fault that they don't know how bright HIDs can be compared to normal crap. :D

Haha ** flicks on HID headlights and fog lights **

I was planing to change my stock yellow fog ights to white a while ago but it's too hard finding H11 globes unless you go on Ebay.

Personally I find fog lights as a cosmetic thing cos even in stock form, I can barely see them, even in foggies conditions. I think it's the HID's that make the foggies not bright enough.

jl88rl, i wasn't hurt at all :) everyone has their own opinion - that's what the forums are about right?

I have found it virtually impossible to find any H11 globes that are not white here in Australia.

If you compare euros hids to most other hids on the market you will find taht something is most likely wrong. I know this is a dead cause since im posting this in a euro biased forum but if you have a chance notice other cars with hids driving oppsite you then try and spot a euro. The euro cut off is quite high and can often glare majorly.

Anyone that has fogs on unnecessary are inconsiderate. Of course there are many of those people around, we already know that.
