Hi guys
The http://www.d-series.org (http://www.d-series.org/) swear by using D16Y8 head gaskets on there D16Z6/D16Y1 to raise compresion after stage 2 cam/spring install
D16Y8 only 2 layer
D16Y1 3 layer
Anyone here in OZ done this and how was the outcome?
Allso the D16Y8 is the Cope 93-95 right or not?

It’s the VTEC version of that engine. It’s the head you use for the mini-me conversion.
So I assume if the head fits the gaskets is the same as well. I’m not a D-series nutcase so I don’t know 100% sure

Yeah D16Y1 and D16Y8 are both VTec's
D16Y8 is just the newer SOHC VTec and for some reason that head gaskets is only 2 layers unlike the D16Y1 with 3...
wounder why they when with a thinner gaskets on the newer models...
actually, our d16y1's use metal headgaskets stock. same as the d16y8. the d16z6's in america use a organic compound ( like cork) hence they were thicker. one of the small differences between the z6 and the y1.
