Need URGENT info in relation to swapping in B18C from integra VTiR into EG5 VTi - SOHC VTEC: :D :D

1. Can I retain the D-series Starter motor and alternator etc or do I need to find integra items ?

2. Are EK4 VTiR axles (used in B18C swap) OK for my EG ??

3. Can I use my D-series SOHC radiator with the B18C ??

4. Fuel system etc - will they be OK for the B18C ??

5. where do I get OBD1 to OBD2 ECU plug convertor in AUS and how much $$ ??

No. Find the Integra ones.

2. Are EK4 VTiR axles (used in B18C swap) OK for my EG ??

Yes, the 3 piece axle design will work from the EG.

3. Can I use my D-series SOHC radiator with the B18C ??

Yes you can, but just keep an eye on temperature over long drives.

4. Fuel system etc - will they be OK for the B18C ??

Yes its fine.

5. where do I get OBD1 to OBD2 ECU plug convertor in AUS and how much $$ ??

Don't bother. Getting OBD2 to work in an OBD1 car is a pain. The OBD2 ECU will look for extra signals which are not available for OBD1 cars unless you wire them in (i.e. 2nd O2 sensor). Either get a P72 OBD1 ecu, or a chipped ecu.

It is perfectly fine running an obd2 engine in an obd1 car.

The B18C VTiR engine did come with OBD1. The ecu is the P72.

hmmm Apparently the B18C is OBD2..

I have been told I will need a new harness as the ODD1 plugs on my old harness wont match the OBD2 plugs on the engine's sensors ?????

if this is true, i will not be able to afford the swap as a harness will double the cost of my swap !!

HELP !!

Conversion harness OBDII to OBDI isn't very expensive man! It's like 99bux US... even less now... The OBDI ecu will cost you more...

OK after further reserch etc..

engine is 95 (OBD1) B18C, that has been converted to OBD2.. with B16A gearbox.

I intend to retain my SOHC VTEC engine wiring harness and get an OBD1-OBD2 convertor plug so I can use the B18C OBD ECU that it is running from at the moment.

what do I need now, and where can I get it at decent price ?

I have looked at Hasport and their adaptor harness is like USD $169...

Dont waste your time trying to get the OBD2 ecu working in yur OBD1 EG.
Even with the adapter, you will still need to add:

1. second O2 sensor behind the cat
2. crank fluctuation sensor
3. knock sensor
4. ...other stuff which yur SOHC engine harness can not accomodate for in its stock form.

If you are keen, then by all means go ahead and use the OBD2 ecu, but it's so much easier to go OBD1 (which can be later reprogrammed if you wish).

bengbear:is it possible to run the P28 ECU(D16y) on the b18 at all??
will the engine start?? will it run maybe for a little while?

Vtecnique: I'd try to find someone to chip your current old ECU if possible.. im not sure about the price though, but it would be cheaper than buying a new P72.

Yes....p28 will work for b18c (vtir)...but not properly....it will not open secondary butterlies on the b18cin vtec....fuel/ignition also wrong.

The only ecu that can run the b18c (vtir) is the p72, which has secondary butterly control.

sorry man - I plucked it out of friends car - well actually it is still in it for a week or so...

Now, what about if I get an OBD2 B18C wiring harness and forget about OBD1 ?? then I can retain the B18C's OBD2 ECU ?

You will need the intermediate harness (not the engine harness) that runs inside the dash and down into the passenger foot well where the female OBD2 ecu plugs are. All you need basically are the female OBD2 ecu plugs which you repin intto, plus to add extra wires. As you can tell already, its a big job.
