Hey all;

I just had EBC Green Stuff replacing my worn out OEM ones and I know we gotta let the pads break in and euro77 told me to give it at least 100kms. I have given it over that and the car is still screeching when I apply brakes on a straight line stop. Sometimes, I when I brake and take a corner, a more irritating screech comes out, sounded like my backing plate hitting the disc, but when I jacked the car up and checked the backing plate, it was not in any way hitting the discs, I checked the pads and the brown coating on the pads are still visible.

Do you think the screeching sound can be caused by the pads still breaking in?

Oh, when I ordered the pads, from the same joint that did euro77's pads, the pads did not fit the car but I was assured by the guy that it is the correct one, I had to grind two protruding bits out of the pads in order to make it fit in the calipers.....

Thanks in Advance for any advice and tips..

grind out bits? you sure they meant for your car? from the sounds of it they are not fitting like they should in the caliper and the squeal you are hearing is a vibration of the pads.

Did you bed the pads in correctly?

Also I'd say your rotors are lipped and glazed from the stock pads. May need machining or replacing. I also use disc brake quiet on the backing plates whenever I replace pads and this seems to eliminate 90% of noise. I never get any brake noise.

Did you grease the backing plate?

I say the noise is from the glaze on the rotor. Machine it and bed it properly again. I would be asking question why you need to grind out bits.. either it is not for your car or you fit it wrong (no offence mate, people can make mistake). If Euro77 has it on his car, easiest would be asking him the question and compare the pads.

Thanks for the replies guys, I checked the discs with my mechanic and we both agreed they don't need machining, but after a few days of driving the squeals came that is why I am concerned..

I think I'll go borrow the machine and have the discs machined up... :p

I got the pads from the same place euro77 had his car done, I didn't do it at the place, I only bought the pads and brought it down to my mech to do it.. Dunno why mine didn't fit because of the two protruding parts.

Id say its the wrong pads, All non genuine pads should be exact copies of originals and need no modification.
