Yeah, who said it ruined anything?

Just because it is refined/smoother......doesn't make it worse.

iVTEC is just VTEC and Toyota's VVT-i spliced together. You now have timing controll aswell as cam profile controll.

It's more complex, but then if you like simple get a V8 with pushrods and a carby. Those things are bloody simple compared to a B18C2.

I-Vtec is a pretty complicated evolution from Vtec...

i-vtec is like the son of Vtec.... Its so much smoother and fuel efficient at the same time...

If sound only matters then bung a C.A.I on a I-Vtec motor & it will definetly scream like Vtec...

If u want a Beast get a V8...

Thanks guys......didn't realise I was at 7000!

Main difference between VTEC and iVTEC is that iVTEC allows variation of cam timing on the intake cam depending on engine rpm and load. Hence gives you better torque down low in the power band (that's it major selling point)

ivtec is a lot smother than vtec
sound is not as loud stocked
since its more smoth in the power line and it comes on through stages while vtec is only on and off thats why vtec is so beasty

maybe off topic but

in the current SPEED magazine,
there was a comparison between a DC2R and the new Type S DC5

well on the end, the driver was completely happy with the DC5 and yes, he did mentioned (i think) the slight grunt of the Dc5 compared with the DC2R.
