u might lose power at those revs but when u select the next gear the revs will still be high enough to not fall off vtec. therefore keeping your momentum going.

Ive got a H22A as well, 94 though, wouldnt mind working out what it is as well. To do that you check out your power/torque curve and your gear ratios. You shift when the torque in the lower gear matches the torque in the higher gear ( but you need to multiply the torque by the change in gear ratio). So you can go a little past peak torque usually.

Anyome got a power/torque curve of a stock 4th gen H22A?

Peak torque is often far below the redline, H22a's rev to 8k dont they? Even if you lose slight amount of power at the very limit of gears, you are higher in the powerband in the next gear, it also means say for 0-100, you have less gears to change through...

People have done test's proving this, not in a prelude, but i assume its the same.

For performance, shift at 8000 on your tacho which would be just before your rev limiter. This will ensure that you are in hi-cam (VTEC) in the next gear. Power of the h22a doesn't tail off that much at all at the end of its rev range.
