Its one up from ur breeze,
i got a gl.. dey aint bad..
but if u are looking to work ur car there isnt much u can do wid that engine.. prolly go to a fi instead of carb or the mighty VTEC....
but if ur not gonna work the engine and looking for economy then that engine is pretty good.
ohh ps. i chopped a gli with my gl.. hehee. cept his was auto

$500 for that ? ffs i sold a d16a8 with less k's and better condition + extras for that price.....

btw remember that you can only get an engine that is the same year date or newer than the chassis of your car.

not sure on the exact figure but to buy a fi kit is pretty expensive.. rather find a fi born engine

ya thats wat i mean.. if i get a stock FI engine, will it be a straight drop? or would i have to modify a bunch of other crap which will escalate to a 5k bill

yes its illegal you need a 94yr+ engine to fit into your car.
dont know why tho.
check rta.

I have yet to read anywhere in the rules about engines that it has to be the same year or newer. (I would love to see someone show me the quote for the RTA rules about this not just “they told me this”)
It’s still kinda silly putting an old engine in a new car.
Does that engine have a hydro clutch? That could be an issue if it’s a cable clutch anyway.
It’s not really much of an upgrade better off saving your cash for a d16a8 (EFI DOHC NON-Vtec) or a d16y*(EFI SOHC Vtec). I know you will need to buy EFI fuel tank and new lines for EFI conversion but putting that engine in seems a bit of a waste.

PS. I wouldn’t pay anywhere near that much for that engine. Even wreckers are only charging 500 bucks for them (and that’s a rip off).

ENGINE IS FULLY TESTED AND HAS 3 MONTHS PARTS WARRANTY!!

What’s up with this ONLY PARTS warranty? that’s gay
That means if the shit hits the fan before 3 months is up YOU have to pay to have the engine removed. Most places will give you parts and labour warranty that will cover the costs of removing and installing a new engine.

Engine must be same year or newer to meet emissions standards etc set the year the car was made... BUT, I've seen HEAPS of older 4G63 mitsu engines find their way into newer cars...

it would cost more to transfer your car to Fuel Injection, but not 5k..
i think that isnt worth it myself.. could get something better.. all depends on how much you would be willing to spend

Exactly my point. There are heaps of cars running around with older engines in them.
I want someone to quote the RTA Rules about how old the engine is. I’ve been all though the engine swap information in South Australia and it says nothing about the age of the engine compared to the car.

People keep saying but no one has any proof.

Last time i was standing aroudn getting an old gen2 CRX i was "waering in" defected - one of the cops pointed at me and asked if the engine was legit , then proceeded to ask what year car the engine came from etc etc.

Whether to confuse me , scare me or it was actually a rule i have yet to find out for sure. But for the meantime - i think it makes perfect sense to stick a newer engine in any car :)

This is as offtopic as this thread gets - keep replies relative to help timmya2 or others out

I would source a D16Y1 VTEC - Many people are literally throwing theirs away..go to the wreakers, get a fuel pump etc.. should be a relatively cheap job.

in nsw you cant drop in an engine thats older then the car.
if you want proof go look it up yourself. or how about drop the engine in and then get f*cked over later on.

anyway, timmy why do you want that engine? just save up for a better one...
