This thread is dedicated on how to launch the s2000.

Since i did a search and nothing has come up here and i wasnt totally satisfied with what i have read in other forums as there is alot of contradicting posts.

So the question is, how do u guys launch ur s2000's? im well aware the s2k isnt designed for dragging due to the weak diff.

This is what i have noticed so far most ppl seem to say launch the car at abt 5500-6000k rpm and then 'side step' the clutch. I didnt exactly follow this technique but instead launched it at 5500 dumped the clutch and then full throttle, this only resulted in the car going abit sideways and plenty of wheel spin. I will be experimenting further on different launchin techiniques but was just interested in seeing how u guys launched ur s2k's.

cheers

Ok, heres the only way to properly launch on this car. You have to launch around that rpm, hovering around 5-6krpm depending on conditions and when wet even lower. You haveto drop the clutch and wheelspin, but as soon as wheelspin you adjust throttle by tapping on throttle to gain maximum traction. Without a bit of wheelspin, the car will just bog down and will take almost like a lifetime to get into the vtec (6000rpm) range.
Once again, depends on what type of road and slope and/or if its wet or dry.

i have found that you can either launch shit and it bogs down... or you launch well with a bit of wheelspin but its still in vtec once it regains traction

update:

went out on the weekend and did some launching hehe.

Method used was blip the throttle to abt 5000-5500 mark then slipped the clutch...found that the car did abit of wheel spin and then took off quite well. DOWNSIDE was that it was burning the clutch!.

second method was same, blip the throttle to 5000-5500 then dumped the clutch, car once again did wheel spin and hopped abit. Took off well again but wasnt too pleased abt the hopping....

i guess both methods are feasible for the occasional straight drag but for it to be a daily ritual be prepared to pay for a new clutch or diff....

Id go option 1 over 2 and ride the clutch a little over stepping off it completely.

You might wear your clutch a bit sooner but less chance of blown box or diff.

I suggest trying it with maybe 1000rpm less around the 4500 mark and i think that you will prob encounter a little less wheel spin.
