hey guys.

pls help.

yes my EM1 did turn into a rexxy overnite.

i was driving in my coupe to my gf's house wen....

its began to sound like a rexxy whilst accelerating and all of a sudden 'boost' would cmon and the car would speed up. LoL. serzly dats wats it doing!

chugging/choking wen stepping onto the throttle and produced a deep heavy sound (rexxy!). so no power or signs of acceleration from 0-3000rpm wen driving. idle sounds quiet and seems like i killed it. but it began to chug and choke while i chekd it on the side of the road. i opend bonnet. chekd hoses etc. nothing.. nada...

but wen driving, slowing down frm 4th to 3rd or 3rd to 2nd. same choking sensation, chugging and no power den engine would free up after 3000rpm!

but yesterday, i fully washed my car, and engine bay with degreaser, drove about 100kms yesterday but nothing happened, apart from my clutch started to click wen half depressed.

so basically...

1.enging choking at low rpms = rexxy sound/no power at low rpms
2. clicking clutch.

now pls tell me wat the hell is wrong with my baby coupe??

im dying to hear the answers!

wen i get home. i shall fully chek engine and intake system.

pls help a COUPE in need!

id think , one of ur cylinders isnt firing - giving the off-beat noise.

Check each of the sparkplug leads, to see if they are firmly connected to the spark plugs , and also that the leads are firmly conencted to the distributor..
Also , take out each of the spark plugs to see if they are gunked up ( black or oily from carbon and...oil etc) and replace them with a new set if need be.

Also , maybe check the ICAV ( on the back of the inlet manifold on the b16a2 as well i think ?!?)

would water cause a problem like this if u got it on/in places its not meant to be?
u wouldnt think that would be the cause, because if it was the car more than likely would play up/not start until dryed out, which by now it would be...

check you spark plugs. I had the same thing happen to me twice. Once I got water in where the spark plugs are, the other time a spark plug stopped working.

Just take out your spark plugs, and see if there is any sign of water. If so, get rid of it. And get some new spark plugs anyways. Its the cheapest and most common problem, might as well try it first.

it does sound like one of ur cylinders aren't firing..
i had the same problem.. and found out that it was the sparkplug leads that were causing the problem..

could be your leads..
or your plugs, or a number of things, before u buy things work out where the prob is coming from so u dont waste your money on un-needed stuff :)

ALSO

did / do you park your car on grass overnight or for a long time ? The moisture , CAN seep up into your distributor + other electrical items - causing a temporary misfire as described by urself. Once the moisture evaporates the problem should be fine .

hav u had it serviced lately? i had a similar problem to wot u r describing but it was becoz some dodgy mechanic didn't tighten the spark plugs properly so oil or moisture or sumthin was gettin in there through the gap, my mechanic mate tightened it up and it was fine after that.
