View Full Version : Euro : Owned or finance?
Hi guys,
Just wondering how many Euro drivers here own their own cars (as in owned outright)? If finance, is it tax/work beneficial or personal finance?)
Regards,

paid outright. I don't believe in finance... except for homeloan coz I don't have that much money :D
Cool... all own outright (including me) so far.
Interestingly.. I would have thought financing a car gets a better price because they make a lot more $ on the loan.

Paid outright...via credit card and got a bizillion rewards points which I've since used to get lots of cool free stuff. Of course I paid out the credit card once the statement arrived so no interest had to be paid. :)

Yeah I once had the thought of getting a high limit charge card just for that purpose but I figured they either wouldn't let you pay by credit card or that they would charge a surcharge. So I also want to know if you paid a surcharge or did they just charge you full retail (no bargaining) when you maybe could have talked them down in price.

Alpine: Which dealer in BNE accept Credit card for car purchase?? I thought they only accept bank cheque or cash (as in notes)...

For that sort of money the dealer must have factored it into the price. A 1.5% credit card fee on a $35k car is a whopping $525 transaction fee for the dealership.
Not the sort of money a dealership gives away
Yeah... it's all factored into the final price. I was able to put $4k on my credit card for some points.

I financed my CRV. Its a tax write off for work and also, I dont have that much cash to spend on the car at once.

Paid outright. You pay a lot more with finance.

Finance - complete tax write-off so I can spend my money on other things. And in 3 years time, I'll just upgrade to another car.

interesting results here, seems 50/50. Financing a car has its pro's and con's, just comes down to who you are and the money involved.

Im leasing mine through my company. 2 years 50% residual, about $900 a month. = NewHonda for me in 2007 ! :)

Finance. Novated lease.
Exactly what Suntzu is paying. I will own it after three years. Provided I do more than 15000km a year, the interest is "roughly" the same as what I am saving in pre-tax dollars.
Only I get pre-tax & no GST on fuel, maintainence, tyres etc...

finance via esanda. I think over the life of the loan its like 6 gs. extra thats working off 35000 loan. It was either getting the loan or not getting the euro. I think ive made the right choice. :)

Payed cash outright here. Been saving for a house deposit but figured may as well use this cash that we have rather than pay interest on a car we can afford straight away. Now we just have to start saving for a house again.

Financed with 15k deposit until a long term deposit matured, then paid in full.
Lady in finance, tried to tell me to not to finalise the loan and put my money elsewhere...pffft.
