Hey guys got any idea on what is d16y2??? is it Vtec or somethin?

i googled it - and it falls into this range - 1.6 L (1590cc) D16Y2, D16Y3, D16Y5, D16Y6, D16Y7, D16Y8 & D16B2 SOHC 4 cylinder. And its from the UK . non-vtec.

so as long as it doesn't have VTEC printed on the Rocker cover of the engine den it's not vtec right?
but on another Site it said
Honda CIVIC COUPE VTEC (MPI) D16Y2 ????

From what I know, (I might be wrong, please correct me)
For all those SOHC engine which got VTEC print on the rocker cover are all JDM one. like D15B.
I think all AUS spec. vti model dun have vtec print on the rocker cover!

No not all vtec engines have it printed.

In dat case... i my car might be vTec:D... i start noticin it after i put in the Intake i brought of EGSI and the thing RoarS at <5k rpm.. make me thing if my car is vtec..:D
den i check the Engine and it has D16Y2 in it... New zealand Civic btw problery y

isnt a EG vti powered by a d16y2 sohc vtec?

if its an lxi its not vtec mate, vti is nz sohc vtec, and vtir is the dohc vtec in nz...
it will have a vtec solenoid on the side of the head, just above the thermostat housing.

and its definately non vtec
it roars at 4000rpm only coz of the CAI i haf

my VTI has VTEC written on the cover..
but i have noticed.. that some.. such as a friends VTI coupe.. doesnt have VTEC written on it...

so whats your point? are you trying to find out if you have vtec or not?
tell us the engine code or the make of your car atleast...

it just depends on the car make. EG and EK have different heads (appearance wise) but its still sohc vtec.

Yeah but D16Y1 are stronger than D16Y8 for some reason
