The offset on tyres for a dc5 is 55 stock - i wouldn't recommend going any higher than that.

I"m using JDM 17s 17x7, offset +61, running 225/45/17 - no problems at all...

never mentioned anything about offset :P
225 is width of the tyre right?....45 is the profile? and 17 o course is the rim size.

hmmz how thick is 45 for profile?in cm plz :D

(225 / 100)*45 = 101.25mm !!
so 10.1 cm is the profile mate.

whos running normal offsets not 60+ etc
dundas has 17x7 43,45+ offset
would 225/45/17 be better or
215/45/17
225/40/17
215/40/17
probly prefer 40 profile but does it meet the load rating?

Atm the moment I am using 225/45/17 and compared to stock (205) you do feel more more grip especially when you are pushing the car hard. The steering also feels heavier due to the larger larger foot print.

I've heard that 215 feels more nimble which is the spec I will try next when I change my tyres. Its really up to you with what kind of feel and grip you are after.

i use 215/40/17 and it made a big big difference with handling, although the 40 is a bit bumpy, but you'll get use to it

in the dry it will feel solid - but will easily become directional in tram lines and bad roads and will tend to aquaplane in the wet more.

215/45/17 should be alright.

has anyone used an 18x8.5" rim with 225/45/18 tyre and +47 offset on a DC5R without any major difficulties. i realise this is quite a specific question just hoping someone knows.

the 225 tyre's ok but im getting conflicting stories about a 8.5" rim that it might rub with that offset.

locote-dc5r stock is 205/55/16
alfred_dc5r-stock rims are made by enkei

look up tyre size calculator on a search engine and you can work out wat size you can go up to and still keep same rotating diameter

locote
04-10-2005, 08:05 PM
Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revs/km Difference
205/55-16 113mm 316mm 632mm 1985mm 504 0.0%
215/45-17 97mm 313mm 625mm 1964mm 509 -1.0%

better size would be:
Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revs/km Difference
205/55-16 113mm 316mm 632mm 1985mm 504 0.0%
245/35-18 86mm 314mm 629mm 1975mm 506 -0.5%

You might not care about performance, so it might not matter......
But how heavy are these 18's.

DC2's con go to 16's, no probs.
DC5's can go to 17's, no probs. But after that, you have too spend big$$$ for Superlight rims or you lose performance.
As for H22 Accord's ???

Too me this is more important that the rotating diameter putting the speedo out abit. I couldn't see that small a change affecting gear ratios.

Just my 2c

the rims are a set of racing harts of a s2000 so weight is not going to be a little more than 17" but not dramatically. i was initially looking at 17s but these are a good price so why not.
thanks for those calculations locote but its more the width of the rim being 8.5" that im concerned about (rubbing on stuff) rather than rolling diameter, incedentally theres not a chance a 245 tyre would fit.

doesn't the wrong profile mess up your speed/mileage readings?

matt

it does but not by a huge amount, i don't know if you have em in the eastern states but in perth they put the things near schools etc sometimes that display your speed using a radar thing(nophoto tho), so ill just drive past one of those and see hoe much its out then compensate
