Nice, very nice....While we are on the lexan subject though, anyone know where to get some windows made up? Just after the rear ones.

any plastic fabricators should be able to cut some up for you mate. alot of people who replace windows with lexan tend to sacrifice the concave (or convex???) shape they had in glass. which means its just the outline you need?

and by the way, that lexan sunroof. wouldnt that flex under some force (cornering and shit)

Makes the sunroof really hard to open though :D.

hehe - don't think its meant to open...

I think its more of a 'SHOW' roof than anything else you could use for race purposes. I actually believe if you took your car to the track - and it was getting scrutineerd - once the scrutineer looked at it it would be a 'NO NO'

looks cool tho!

may as well put glad wrap if he was planning to race with that roof

Is the glass that is in the sunroof the same as in the windscreen? Why would Lexan be any better or more worthwhile putting in there (other than for looks)?

oh how ghey, why would you want that?

if tinted i can see some ppl interested in it maybe but like that is ridiculous. imagine the sun getting in ya eyes n stuff. not to mention the look of it's strength and build quality.

The sunroof and all its mechanisims weigh a fair bit. The point doing this is that you can take it all out as well as the normal glass and replace it with a lightweight piece of plastic (lexan). It not for normal cars, only really race cars.

Oh, ok. I see where you are coming from. But as others have said, this would not work very well on a race car due to its structural integrity. Sort of seems to defeat the purpose?

depends though. If your car already has the sunroof, there is not much you can do about the stuctual integrity. The hole is already there. Might as well make it as light as possible. Plus I wouldn't be too concerned about the roof making the chassis stronger. All it is, is a thin sheet of metal. Its the support bars that run across that gives it its strength.

I hear what you are saying, but I was thinking more along the lines of a rollover and what would happen to the roof/how the chassie would perform etc.

yeah, but I still don't see how it would effect it though.

I think if you roll it (rare to do on a crx anyways i guess) - the roof is meant to be supported regardless of the panel or not - what if you rolled it with an open sunroof type thing.

Im actually thinking - do CAMS or other race mob - set rules for cars with sunroofs? does anyone know?

I was thinking about this and couldnt really think of any cars that I know of that race and have a sunroof? Im sure though that CAMS must have addressed it.

Here is what a quick search of the CAMS website produced:

http://www.cams.com.au/bulletins/B03-065%20Sports%20Sedan%20Technical%20Amendments.pdf (see the bold section on page one)
This link only refers to 'GROUP 3D SPORTS SEDANS' whatever those are.

The other link that I found relates to the 'Procar Champ series' and has a one line comment. http://www.cams.com.au/bulletins/B03-023%20PROCAR%20Champ%20Series%20Sporting%20&%20Technical%20Regulations.pdf
