Does anyone know where I can get these from? I have rang around a few places and done a google search but haven't found much.

Here's some pics

Do you guys think 16" would look good on an EM1 or similar civic coupe?

Try one of the forum sponsers. They might be able to give you a hand.

Have you tried Bob Jane? I remember someone saying a while ago that they can get them but I am not sure?

Yeah, I called Bob Jane at Chermside Brisbane and they said that they are discontinued. As others have suggested I will try the traders on here. Thanks for your help

also, they are not disscontinued. bob jane just refuse to bring them (they bring in rotas and rebadge them) and dont want other ppl trying to bring them in.
someone i know has been through it with them. when he asked if he could try to bring some in himself they got shitty.

Yeah I reckon go the 16's... But IMHO, 17's would look better.

pfft, cheap rims aint the only ones that snap.

you will find its more to do with the quality control and alloys used rather then the strength of the rims, that make rotas cheap.

They are not selling a unroadworthy product.
You will see on their website that most of the pics are of their rims in some sort of racing application.
Pretty sure these teams would have looked into the "snapping" of rims before choosing to use rotas ect.

imo, i wouldn;t worry, bad things happen to every brand. Buy with a positive attitude, don;t be a pesimest.

they SPOOM's or rota's?

29-07-2005, 10:24 AM
hmmm yeah you can try your luck
or
just pay that extra $$ for quality and peace of mind. I think many people ignore how effective lightweight forged rims can be as a performance mod.

yeah i don't think some ppl realise that rota slipstreams are spoon sw388 knock offs

']they SPOOM's or rota's?

does it matter ?

ive seen numerous images the same on HT and a few locally based too. All have been "fake" wheels.

the car in the pic has damaged too
i take it the car has had an accident and then broke the wheels
in that case i dont see the big deal
as things break when u crash your car

if it was the rims snapping casuing the crash, then ill stay right away

but its kinda hard to tell without the owner here

I haven't seen the pic on that other site coz I can't log in, but there are many people using Rota's for daily driving, and harcore track and this is the first time I have heard about one breaking. Everyone else I have heard has them, says they have been very good.

naturally when your rim breaks like this it will damage the car quite abit rofl...

anyway , rotas/spoom/whatever seem to be fine for daily driving. Nothing against them. But take them to the limits where OTHER original rims are designed to perform - this is where you will run into problems.

spoon > rota > spoom

what do you expect.....

its like buying No Frills Civic compared to Honda Civic

i think its a bit ahrd to say which came first: the crash or the snap.
just dont think rota would have come as far as they have if they were selling shit.

Not sure man, but these rims in 16's will be perfect for your civic.

yea, you guys need to realise, there are cheaper alternatives to most high end, expensive products.

Nakamichi for example. they started many years ago as a company who just ripped on b&o products, then they realised their stuff wasn't to bad, so spent a lot of r&d, and they are now a rather respected company in the audio world.

Rota slipstreems are one of about 30 rims made by rota (they do not just make copies). benji and panda (i will ignore z3lda's comments cause i know he just likes the attention =P) i think you need to get over the cheap alternative is crap idea and realsie that there are many people who cannot afford or don't feel the 3000 for a set of rims is a worthwhile investment, much like those people who can't afford the 1000 louis v, bags.......

rota's are not bad quality rims, just a cheaper alternative.

by your logic eating no frills baked beans will kill you, where as heinz brand will not because they cost more. go figure.

enough bagging out of alternatives.

The only fact is ....wait for it....you get what you pay for :)

lol yea yea, but i think with rotas what you get is not the highest quality lightest alloys, and customer service, instead a heavey alloy. But i'm sure that the alloy would be as if not stronger. =D

umm and the taken to the limit i got no idea about, i just saw lots of pictures of race cars on the rota website, so i'm guessing they are fine when taken to the limit?!

never know.
