Hi
I have a problem with my integra gsi 1994 model. Everytime i try to accelrate just after taking a corner it seems like the gear box changes gears to netural as there is no power and the engine just reves and the all of a sudden it changes gears and the car takes off. other times when i am driving stright and press the accelrater to the metal the car has no power and the engine just revs and the changes gears and accelrates...
does anyone has this problem?? anythoughts on what it might be??
Tramsmission is slipping.... time for a new auto by the sounds of it.

or rebuild, but i'm no mechanic so i could be wrong....
I'd go to a tranny place and get it checked out for sure:thumbsup:

oh ok like honda transamission oil??
I think he means check the level and condition of what is already in there... if it's pretty bad changing it might help.... but sounds like it's slipping pretty bad.

They don't reco em generally. They take yours and give you another box that has been reco'ed already.
You are up for a couple of grand minimum.
Its not gonna be fluid related and it has nothing to do with the overdrive button although manually changing down gears whilst driving ie. pretending you have a tiptronic will certainly shorten the life of the box.

Revelation : Manual is faster than auto. We are an enlightened.
Pintorulez - go to a reputable transmission shop (not a honda dealership) where they will take it for a spin and give you a quote which will probably be based on whether they can get you a reconditioned box in which they will quote you based on changeover or if they will reco your existing box.
Then its up to you what to do but if you continue to drive it eventually the problem will become constant and the car will be undrivable.

sounds like your ATF level is low or your 2nd gear clutch pack is failing.
try cheaking your tranny fluid level. only ever use honda ATF, nothing else

how does this shorten the life of ur tranny? gear change wise there's no difference to manually selecting second gear, and jamming ur foot on the accelerator and letting the box select 2nd on it's own rite? not like on a manual where u can forcefully crunch it into any gear if u try hard enough

Wrong
Using the selector to shift gears in an automatic car overzealously will shorten the life of the transmission. This is not opinion, it is fact. The gear box was not designed with that style of driving in mind. Even overused tiptronic gearboxes fail earlier as evidenced by the problems that Honda experienced with their prelude tiptronic boxes.
Allowing the gearbox to select gears by depressing the accelerator is obviously how the car was designed to get you from A to B and constitutes normal use.
