Hi guys and before you tear me to shreds: yes i've searched and found you need a 10mm spacer (according to Type_one) and a 5mm space (according to edw-R) which one is required to fit the standard 15" rims?
Also my main question is that spoon offer longer hub bolts (+10mm) for the dc2r brake conversion and this is not mentioned in any of the search results... are these needed to fit the calipers?
Also i've noticed a few of you have the spoon twin block calipers on your dc2rs so your input would be appreciated. What are your opinions and have u had any problems with them?
(please NO "i think" or "i heard" answers (you'll just confuse me even more) i need a definite answer preferably from experience)
any help is greatly appreciated thanks in advance

G-Day,
I can't help with the caliper question, Only have Spoon Cal's in my DREAMS (lucky bastard). But If you been given longer Wheel Stub bolts, It's an engineering rule, that some racing reg's enforce. (Thread should be 1/3 of thread dept, of the studs thread, sticking out of the nut.) Thus longer studs supplied, alonger with the for racing use only I suppose...
Enjoy.

thank you
haven't bought them yet and have now decided against it as i will be getting a moto at the end of the year so i wont use the car that much anyway...
you'd be surprised the spoon calipers aren't as much as ppl make them out to be...

I have the spoon calipers on my car, and as far as fitment is concerned you will need a spacer with the stock AUSDM 15" wheels, they fit perfectly under the USDM ones but you will need some spacers, unless of course u up the anty and run them with volks.
I have a set of custom spacers if you wanna buy em hit me up, cost me close to 200 bucks.
As far as feel goes, on the track you notice a big difference, on the street well if you dont drive hard then you wont notice much, but nonetheless i love em

Yes you will need a spacer for stock AUDM rims & Spoon calipers. I have a 3mm one that I use. 5mm will definitely be enough though.
You can buy spacers off ebay for about $30. ie

As for difference, the brake pedal feel is more solid compared with stock which makes braking even more reassuring. But like VTECACCORD said, the real benefits will be felt on the track where you can really give the brakes a good run.

ahh the benefits of shifting weight without washing off speed - what will spoon think of next...
just a few words...
i used to use spacers for my calipers and they are pretty shit man, there is a big diff when i comes to driving... just get rims to accomodate. it would be better to get longer hub bolts as the original nuts will only just hold on, not even half screwed in and it does come a bit loose after some bumps. thats if you still going to use spacers

What size spacers were your running? 3-5mm is pretty minor even on standard hub bolts

Hey guys,
I've been on my uncle's dc2r recently and i realised he install spoon caliper brakes.
I'm not sure which specific model and any in-depth detail, i just know it's blue spoon brakes when i saw from the outside.
But my question is, by installing spoon brakes, are they meant to cause a creaking noise when you turn the steering wheel??
I realised this creaking noise when my uncle turns the steering wheel. I asked him, what's with the creaks and he says he's missing some spring.
THen i ask him, isn't that abnormal then and he said, the guy who did the brakes says it's ok without that spring or what ever part that was.
Does it sound like my uncle went to some dodgey mechanic to do the job?

how good is spoon???? well let me tell you now from first hand experience!!!! I think itsd one of the best mod i did to my itr!!! stopping power is unbelievable, work better if you have a brake master cilynder stopper too!!! work very well together, all you need to do is tap the brake padel and the car will stop like it never stopped before hehaehaeha.
As for spacer??? yes you do need a 5 mm spacer if you are gonig to run the spoon with your stock rims!!! You wont regret getting it, if you are planning too =)

You need a bigger rotor.
for the spacer, 3mm will be enough

5mm spacer. Cost me $5 each. Total is $10. No problem all the way.
