[GEN5] Black box under intake pipe

All right, just need some info... there is a black box which sits underneath the intake pipe between the air filter and the intake manifold. It is connected to the intake pipe via the underside. I disconnected it and found a vane inside, so it must be a variable resonator of sorts. Problem is, can I disconnect it. There seems to be cables going into it (presumably the switch for the vane) plus at least one, maybe two plastic tubes going into it? one heads off and passes into a metal pipe which runs near the fuel rail, then runs elsewhere. Where do they go and what do they do? if any1 can shed some light, it would be much appreciated.

Its just a resonator.

U can pull da whole thing out.

Only prob is u should make a custom CAI from teh bumper and up into teh air box for direct air feed.

as you said, its a variable resonator thingy. Just rip out everything that is connected to it (a couple of solenoid's etc). The metal tube goes to a vac source off the intake manifold from memory so block that up
