its the "Si-tec" kicking in mate !

LOL

Seriously , you are "feeling" the pull more because the peak torque curve is coming into play at about 4-5,000rpm or so - and it will pull very nice until about 6800rpm where the torque will flatten out until the 7,200 redline.

Not exactly vtec , but good , DOHC power ;)

WEll , good enough to kill unaware vtirs :P

If you're a good DOHC driver, you could beat a VTiR if they were a n00b I guess lol

lol nah man
the b16a has just got more power end of story
i shift and sometimes i beat the synchro's but the b16a just pulls ahead in every gear (particularly 3rd)
96 vs 118 kw man

lol and wat u mean by "good DOHC driver"

Seriously, it is not so hard to shift after 1st gear...the last i beat i was pretty much equal- a win is a win but gosh it was close :)

If you can change gears quickly, whilst keeping your RPM above 6000RPM constantly whilst changing (WOT gear changing), then you could beat a B16. Trust me it can be done ;)

EDIT : WOT gear changing is also reffered to as "flatshifting" :)

lol
they still win... the b16a onli beat me by about 1 to 1 and a half car lengths after i get him 1 car length on the launch and flat shifting all the way upto 4th beating the synchro's on everyshift (can't be good for gearbox or clutch) onli did it once but hey i knew i couldn't win so no point..
but it is possible if the other driver is shit but not wen the other driver is moderately good..
superior power... my SI-Tec can't beat Vtec haha

Somehow i really dont think that the vti-r driver/s were racing you...even if they were, they may have been just starting to learn manual....or maybe they wernt racing you.

PS-they probably wernt racing you.

nope nope and nope
i know the guy... we went to a industrial area
i drove my car and lost (got a 1 car length on him on take off)
then i drove his car and won (again my car got the b16a on take off)
onli caught up and passed in 3rd by a car length.. if we went all the way til end of 4th he woulda ate me easily

lol don't worry man.. the vti-r is faster.. vti-r pride all the way aye?
raced just for fun man
cheers

I agree that it is very possible to beat a b16 in an Si. As Rowie said, do not underestimate the Si.

As for time slips.

If the same driver was driving an Si and VTI-r.. It is certain that the vtir will pull a better time. It all comes down to the driver. A good driver in an Si should be able to destroy a crappy driver in VTI-r..

As Rowie said dont underestimate them

i know two civics and one integra that can beat VTIR's easily off the launch. usually VTIR's can beat them once they get into third gear and so forth :P

that is, drivers with good drag racing skills

mid 14 sec ALLMOTOR here i come on april drag combat .
No need vtec for me ( 1.6 twin cam non vtec is enough)
Im still on stock internals. no adj cam gears yet , No cams
stock clutch too .

so i guess 15.1 @ 90mph is pretty fast.
no boost here.

8k RPM launch on dunlop Do1j formula R ( 205/50 15 inch ) really help , also flatshifting gear change on all gears ;)

Civic Si
