what Vtec engine would be best suited for a ls integra???? :confused:
its a mod ive been thinking bout 4 a while and i might go through with it so0o0o0o0n dependin on pricing...

have you thought about selling and buying a DC2 instead.
I only say this cause you get more than just an engine with teh VTiR (better brakes etc)

I would say the B18 would be good. Other stuff in the car would need to be upgraded also ie brakes

ive heard of many ls's having b16a's in them...
n do quite good in terms of power / weight ratio...
but definately a b18c would b nice...VTEC yO !

Yeah maybe DC2 vtir brakes should do very well I'd imagine in a lighter chassis.
Some of the JDM DA's (don't think it was all of them?) had B16A standard, but the extra torque if nothing else of a B18C would absolutely transform the car.

I have seen a JDM LS integra that was running a B16 and it was a factory model that I drove and it went surprisingly well so you could go a 1.6
B18 would obviously also fit and would be better again. Anything bigger would just be a money trap and stay away from the single cam motors.
If you get a front cut, try to get the brakes and gearbox etc.....sometimes these items are not included and you only find out after it has been dropped on your door step (i talk from experience on that one)

If you want a cheap option and dont mind not having the kick of Vtec, just Slap on a B18B from a DC Gsi, fits right in with just the passenger side engine mount needing to be chaged with the B18A's mount.
You may say same engine, but the Gsi engine is much newer had more balls than the B18A and you can find them for very cheap!
I got mine from a 96 Gsi for $990 complete too!
Look into it or you could always find a nose cut of a JDM version or just get ya self a B16A from something like a civic!

yerr ive been told a few prices on a b16 but ive never really thought of a b18... is the difference big... eg. price/power... or is it worth is..... then again wat price wud i b looking at 4 a turbo kit... oops scratch that, i luv the sound of the vtec to0o0o0o much..

my old car was an 'xsi' integra 1600 vtec and with a few bolt on mods weight reduction and that kinda thing it was just as quick as a wrx!! The xsi is pretty much the same as the ls except with a vtec 1600 engine. You can get em quite cheep but if you dont want vtec, go with the b18b/a
All good either way!......and.....DONT BUY A DIFFERENT CAR!!
There is nothing wrong with an ls.

most people go with the b16a becoz it is cheaper, but if u put the right mods on it u can create a weapon. id get the b16a and mod it with the money u would save instead of gettin the b18c

i've got a b18a with b16a head (picking car up staurday) same block but diff head
this is the path i chose to wonder
I stareted with a budget but then just dubbled it
got different internals but this dun have to be done
got the lsd box and bigger brakes as well

c cause i got (am gettin) like a 4000 budget.... i want the majority of dat on performance but il be usin like a grand on looks.... so that leaves me with 3000 to play round wif..

man with $3gz i think your probaly better off looking to find a b16a. Gettin the b18a head changed is alot more work than most people would think. Im sure Skremn would agree. But he is also right in saying it depends on what you want. Dont do what other people think you should get. If u want a b16a get one. If u wana change the head, then do that

just a few ideas go and get your self a b16 a head and fit it to the existing b18a block makes was more torque and better horse power then your standard b16a, just a couple of modifications to the existing block to run an oil line for the vtec solinoid, and bit of tig welding to the block, you also get a better flow rate and it's pretty cheap, if your wondering go and look up " ls vtec" and theres heaps of info on the subject, another option would be a b18c5 or c7 , that would kick arse, or the ultimate, and my driving goal is to fit my k20a into my lil teg ha should be bloody fun! just my .2 cents

k20a in a da9 would be absolutely lethal, probably wouldnt bother driving it on the street, i rekon puttin a b18c5 or b18c7 would be a great combination, i agree vtechungry,
What about puttin a b18c head on a b18a, would that work? and how much more effective would it be than puttin a b16a head on a b18a???

im not too sure weather a c5, c7 head would fit on an b18a block and even if it would work i dont think it's really an option though as it proberly would take a bit of fabrication to get it to fit, plus its easyer to just slap the c5 , c7 straight in for that added rush of power and the feeling of vtec madness
