Many people have taken there resonator box out. I know with the Civics you need to take the front bar off and then unbolt a few screws to take the resonator box out.... Not sure if you need to take it off for the integras or not.

Its not a hard to take the resonator box out

Its very straight forward.

You do not need to remove the front bar just jack your car up, take wheel off and fold back inner guard and all is revealed.

Yes not difficult really, did mine the other week, weight saving of 2kgs. The screw in the wheel arch was the most awkward. I knew I should have taken pics while I had it off! oh well, will try and post a diagram today for you.

does this provide any gains?
or does it just increase the induction sound?

to shut the intake up from making noisy sounds

It will increase induction sound a bit but nothing like removing the top of the airbox, but if you fit a cold air duct it will be a little louder than stock, run it from the now empty front guard, like a cheap copy of Mugen, although Mugen will definitely give best gains from what I've heard.

AEM long ram intake works well.

I do not know how widely available they are in Oz though.

Here's how to remove bumper. Once removed undo a few small clips with flat blade screwdriver and drop part of inner guard below resonator box. A couple more obvious bolts and you're done.

when you take the resonator out, you'll see a pipe from the airbox to the resonator box. cut the resonator box and keep this pipe and attach it. then you'll have a poor mans mugen box :p

That's true but couldn't bring myself to do it. Want to return to stock when I sell.:p

yeah just jack up the car, pull off the wheel, pull back the inner guard, andyou should see the resonator, there are a couple of bolts, just look around and take them off, but think before you start unscrewing.

Vtec crossover is way louder on mine than when i had the resonator in, just make a cold air feed from the bottom of the airbox to somewhere down behind the front bar for a a decent cold air feed.

nothing occurs to the car, it just gets a bit louder.

i think the ride isnt quite as smooth though. probably all in my head though.

Cheers

what about that piece of styrofoam that's in between the front bar and like, that metal nudge kinda bar thingy?

what about that piece of styrofoam that's in between the front bar and like, that metal nudge kinda bar thingy?Definitely leave it there, it's there to help absorb impact and maintain some extra strength in the front bar.

yeah that foam has nothing to do with the resonator, the resonator sits just in front of the right hand wheel.
