14x5 1/2 means that the rims are 14 inch diameter, 5 1/2 width with a 4 bolt pattern where each bolt is 100mm apart.

You could fit 16 inch rims with 195 tyres if the rims were 6 1/2 inches wide, which is relatively easy to find. You would need 45 profile tyres to make it within the legal regs for aftermarket wheels and tyres.

Headlights, you can fit anything to your car that is H4 and is designed for a civic. Check out Philips range of headlight globes, they have 4 upgrade types that give either a whiter light or a longer/wider beam.

Stut braces... I have bugger all idea..

You'll find the larger wheel you go, the harder it becomes to find to suit the civic (legally anyway). After months of searching i found sum 17 inch rims that fit that i liked. The important thing to realise is that the width range you can use is between 4.5 and 6.5 inches. Any wheels you can find within these ranges should fit fine on the civic (of course they have to have the right stud pattern). Youd have a LOT of trouble finding anything over 18 inches within that width range, as large wheels with small widths are unstable.

strut bars - i think they just make these model specific. In other words you just tell them your model and theyll give you the appropriate bar. As far is differences go, i think brand quality is the only things that differ.

Why do you say this? I believe this is incorrect information.

Why do you say this? I believe this is incorrect information.

Reason is that you are allowed to (by law in NSW) increase or decrease the width of your rims by no more than 26mm or 1 inch, therefore, if stock equipment is 5.5inch wide, then you can have btwn 4.5 and 6.5 wide rims.

alright...
then whats offset?
eg. +35 offset??

i dont know exaclty what offset is but basically its how far out the wheel sits

E.G i can have a 17x7.5 wheel on my civic and the offset is like +42 or +44 or soemthing
whereas if i had the same wheel on say a 180sx then the offset would be +35 or something....basically the lower the number, the further out the wheel sits...thats why sometimes if u get like multi 4 stud rim i.e 17s off a civic and then put it on a 180sx the wheel sits in alot....looks funny coz its the wrong offset

but yerr............thats my dodgy explanation lol

Right.. you can have btwn 5.5 and 7.5 inch wide rims..

Thats weird tho coz I also have a 94 VTi hatch and the tyre placcard only says 5.5inch wide rims..?
