ok, I have a gsi and have came accross the same problem and im not going to do the 'killer b frankenstien' b18b bottom end with b16a/b18c head. Various things like oil relife valves are missing in the b18b/a bottom end and they are not strengthened as much so it can tend to warp. If you are going to do the ls/vtec then strengthen the whole bottom end -rods, rod bolts, ballanced internals, etc..... They just arnt reliable enough otherwise!
What I'm doing is waiting to come accross a reasonable b18c bottom end as I already have a b16a2 head, I will put them together along with some civic type-r pistons (and other things) and will have a pretty strong reliable vtec hybrid. The engine bolts straight in ok and all you need to do is get a ecu to drive the vtec, and clip the missing 3 wires onto the vtec parts. that way it is alot more reliable and you get a pretty good vtec.

Or the other option is upgrade to a vtir or Type-r.....

DC4 = 93 -01 GSI

DC2 = 94 - 01 VTIR and Type R.
