I just bought a DC5R About 3 weeks ago and Last Friday I took it up for a drive to Goulborn, Came back to Sydney, And goin through the gears, go to put it in Forth and When im halfway through putting it in 4th gear it makes a grinding noise.....Then i get home, and now reversing my car in to the garage and When I went to put it in Reverse, It made a CLUNK noise and u could really feel the struggle the gearbox was having when i put it in reverse... Anyone had a problem like this b4 or an idea what it might be? It's booked in at the Honda Dealership for Friday, Just trying to get some Info from you guys if any....?

gridning and clunk noises ? hrmmm...when u bought the dc5 3 weeks ago did it have any issues with this ? maybe the previous owner has killed the gearbox quickshifting alot and grinding gears ? this is the sort of problem u get in older cars. So does it do it on a regular basis all the time ?

From 3rd to 4th u can feel the grind in 4th! Since i bought it, it has been running smoothly, No Problems at all. Ever since i came back on Friday, I drive it now and it happens, so I avoid 4th and i slowly put it in reverse not to feel that knock!

warranty can be transferred to the next owner, just gotta ask the dealer to see if the transmission is covered..

Warrenty wiill transfer over.
BUT....
There is considerable work in pulling the gearbox out of your car and then pressing off the gears.
If they do this and determine that the box has been damaged through misuse then you may get lumped with a hefty bill.

should be covered under warranty.
Speak to your local dealer, if they give your greif write a polite letter to Honda Aust.

yeah ya gotta be careful, dealerships are usually rip off merchants (there are good one), My clutch started to go in the audi 1 month after I bought it, they wouldn't cover me because its a replaceable part, wrtting a letter of complaint is usually a good start

Well, It's at Honda and it is covered under warranty, One of the Experts there came for a drive with me and he Immediately said it was the Synchros, I dont know how or why they went, I just bought the friken car ! lol So i guess the previous owner must have been flatchanging or simply didnt know how to drive, oh well, It still under warranty which s a relief :D thanks anyways for the contribution :D
