Hey, I'm SOOOOO bored with the lack of f1 news around. Pitpass is resorting to reporting formula renault, and f1.com is talking about the season thats been. BORING. So I think in the break we have a comical and fictional thread today tonight style to brighten our days / entertain us. I will start it off.

SCHUMACHER SEEKS TO MAKE ALL HIS DREAMS COME TRUE
http://www2.chinadaily.com.cn/en/doc/2003-11/26/xin_1e161de899d446eeb0bca4d0649e4d72_18_23_neverla nd_ranch.jpg
WELL it seems the f1 journalism community has been led astray with the news that 7 time world formula one champion Michael Schumacher was to build a 17 million dollar castle for his retirement. Rumours of the 25 car garage castle were rife, and published in a number of F1 periodicals. However, Schumachers manager Willi Webber, issued a press release today indicating that Ferrari's number one driver has been involved in negotiations with infamous king of pop Michael Jackson for the purchase of Neverland Ranch.

"Micheal (Schumacher) has been interested in the ranch for some time and Jackons recent problems have prompted him to approach the star about the possibility of selling the ranch" Webber said today. A representative from Jackon declined an official comment but said "that Michael (Jackson) was open to genuine offers".

Connie, Schumachers wife, has put her support behind the move as well. "It has always struck me as a great place for kids, and Michael has always been a kid at heart. It will be good for F1 in the US too, especially after indy."

Speculation is now rife as to whether Schumacher is planning a move to either Champ car or the IRL, in a Mansell-esque move to be a master of all codes. However Webber denounced the suggestion as ludicrous. "Michael believes f1 to be the pinacle, its why he chose it in the first place". Fans of f1 in recent times may still be cynical, as stranger things have happened in motorsport.

The 7 time champion is currently third in the championship, with 6 races to go. Many believe he will lose his title to Fernando Alonso this year.

FAST AND FURIOUS SATO?

It may come as a surprise to some but as it seems nobody in F1 circles want takuma sato in their drivers seat next year it appears he will quit F1 for a career in hollywood action films.

It appears he will have another driving partner soon in Paul Walker as there is talk circulating he has taken up a 'bad guy' role in the next installment of the fast and the furious series which is to be set in japanese drift circles.
Sources close to Sato claim he has had both drift and martial arts training for the role over the last 8 months. "Takuma has been training very hard, possibly too hard" one source claimed which may explain some of his underachievement recently on the track for the BAR team.

Sato's role is said to be that of an evil kung fu drifter set on world domination thru the use of dori dori and wild bodykits. After early filming it is said Sato has a natural gift for drifting and it may be another avenue back into motorsport for him.

Sato was quoted recently as stating "i love the 'praaaah' of NA honda's so a return to F1 would be ideal, however if i've gotta dori dori to pay the bills then that's what i've gotta do"

- Neil Crompton

here we see a shot of Sato in intense training with his martial art and acting coaches.

Its really slow now?
I'm not sure what motorsport you are watching, but it isn't F1.

I agree with you on the one tyre rule, but the only benefit that comes out of it, is race/street tyres for us consumers.
A better tyre, which will last longer.

You want them to go faster?! Why the need to go faster?
I like the way they're doing more with less. F1 is still a development frenzy, and with the amount of money spent on development in F1, you can hardly say they're going backwards.
And you're both wrong, it's actually between about 0.5s to 2.5s difference from last year.

They are getting slower, that's the idea. I like it if it means better racing. These machines are still the pinacle of engineering. Just making the teams do more with less. I certainly can't pick a 2s/lap difference as a spectator, can you?

The main thing the drivers/teams and TV personal wanted was more mechanical grip to aero grip.

For the obvisous reason for slip stream and following other cars.
Equals to closer racing, more overtaking etc.
I personally think the track is 70% to blame for bad races!

Anthony Davidson has confirmed he is in talks with Jordan and BMW over a race drive for next season.

The Englishman has forged a strong reputation in his career as a BAR-Honda test driver but is now determined to step up to racing.

His contract at BAR expires at the end of this month and Davidson has already been approached by Jordan about next season, when they will be rebranded as Midland.

The 26-year-old has been told he would not need to bring any money to Midland for a race seat in 2006, even though current drivers Tiago Monteiro and Narain Karthikeyan have contributed millions for their opportunities.

"The thing is that normally driving that far down the pit lane you are looking at spending a lot of cash and we just literally haven't had that kind of money," he said.

"Now they are saying that they can do something so it opens up the opportunity to be on the grid. Basically all I want to do next year is be on the grid.

"It's got to the stage where I just want to be racing. You can only do so much testing as a young guy."

Jordan are not the only team interested in Davidson, with Sauber - who have been bought by BMW - also in negotiations.

Sauber are long-time admirers of the Hemel Hempstead-born driver and they have at least one berth to fill after Felipe Massa signed for Ferrari, with Jacques Villeneuve's future also rumoured to be in doubt.

Davidson confirmed discussions have been held but is not expecting a decision soon.

He added: "We've been talking to BMW as well for next year. We spoke to them a couple of races back but at the moment it seems they have got quite a lot of time to make a decision."

Davidson, who has been in Formula One for five seasons, is desperate to prove himself as a racer after only three starts so far in his career. He retired from his two efforts in a Minardi in 2002 before an early engine problems ruined his BAR debut earlier this year.

He is eager to earn a full-time race seat after four years without any regular competition.

"I love racing so much," he said. "I feel it is probably my greatest strength as a driver. Wheel-to-wheel stuff has always been what I've enjoyed.

"I have always found testing a bit monotonous really but I've been good at it. It's just a shame no-one has really seen me race. I don't see myself as a tester, I still see myself as a racer."

Despite his talks with other teams, Davidson's heart remains at BAR, who he has helped build into regular podium finishers.

His stay there could be over at the end of this month with no arrangement yet in place to allow him to continue testing once his current deal has expired.

But Davidson retains some hope of a race driver should Jenson Button fail in his attempt to escape his Williams contract and partner Rubens Barrichello at BAR in 2006.

The former British Formula Three runner-up said: "This is where I want to be. Out of all of them this is where I'd fit in, I know the car and the team and I'd love to have the opportunity here.

"At the end of the day if I can't get a drive here I will look elsewhere. It's always worth pushing so in my mind there is always a chance."

Michael Schumacher / Norbert Haug

Gemany's seven-time Formula One champion Michael Schumacher refused to quash speculation that he had met with Mclaren sporting chief Norbert Haug to discuss a possible move from Ferrari.

A report in daily Bild, the country's most popular newspaper, claimed the 36-year-old Schumacher had twice held secret talks with Mercedes chief Haug and was angling for a move from Italian team Ferrari.

"I do not want to discuss the rumours about me leaving Ferrari," Schumacher told his official website. "Everyone knows how strong the connection between Ferrari and myself is."

Schumacher is third in the Formula One standings, 40 points behind Spanish leader Fernando Alonso, and has shown signs of frustration at the team's lack of competitiveness this season.

The 52-year-old Haug confirmed that he had met with Schumacher but claimed it was not to entice the driver to Mclaren. "It is true that we met but only to speak about the future of Formula One," said Haug. "I do not think he will be leaving Ferrari."

Schumacher has been at Ferrari since 1996, winning five Formula One crowns for the team, and is contracted until 2006, when he is expected to announce his retirement from the sport.

That said ferrari have apparently signed kimi and valentino rossi for 2007 (continuos non stop rumor that fails to go away.... when they hang around like this they almost always happen) that leave m.s out of ferrari.... hmmmm so then with m.s and norbert huag having so many meetings lately and mercedez being the company m.s took off in motorsport with it could be fitting that he joins mclaren. Aiming for the best package in 2007
Kimi Raikkonen has - again - quashed reports that he has agreed to join Ferrari at the end of next season as a replacement for seven-time Formula One champion Michael Schumacher.

Raikkonen, who turns 26 on Monday, is out of contract at the end of the 2006 season but the Finn denied penning a deal to join the Ferrari team.

"I have heard the rumours and want to say that I have definitely not signed anything with Ferrari," Raikkonen told Bild daily.

"I want to be in the fastest car and as a young boy my dream was to join McLaren Mercedes because of Mika Hakkinen. I am here now and extremely happy to be so. It is even possible that I will stay at the team forever if both parties continue to be successful."

Raikkonen finished runner-up behind Fernando Alonso in the Championship this year. It was the second time the Finn has been piped to the title with Michael Schumacher finishing two points ahead of him in 2003.

Schumacher rides in to Monte Carlo at a
more sedate pace than on a Moto GP Ducati

Michael Schumacher is used to life on two wheels as he frequently rides his Harley Davidson to selected Grand Prix and often packs up and enjoys a biking holiday in the US and Canada each year.

A MotoGP bike however is a different proposition. Today at Mugello the seven time World Champion helicoptered in to the Italian circuit and found himself sitting proudly on a Ducati Desmosedici.

While the media were not permitted in to the test AFP France reports that Schumacher completed in the region of 40-laps recording times around the two-minute 20-second mark.

Schumacher's times were 25 seconds off the pace Loris Capirossi, the official Ducati rider who himself is recovering from injuries sustained during practice earlier this month at Phillip Island.

"It's something I wanted to do for a long time and I must say that it was a lot of fun," Schumacher told AFP...

Giancarlo Fisichella

Renault driver Giancarlo Fisichella was stopped by police this Sunday morning for driving over the speed limit. The Italian’s driving licence was suspended, according to Ansa news agency.

Around six this morning, Fisichella was clocked at 148 km/h on an avenue located in a suburb of Rome. The speed limit on that street is 60 km/h.

Fisichella admitted his fault and explained to Ansa news agency that he was in a hurry to see his child, who was feeling sick.

“I was visiting friends with my wife,” explained Fisichella, “when the babysitter called to tell us that our child was having a high fever and wanted to see his mother, so we immediately went back.”

“I know that even in these situations, we have to follow the speed limits,” added the Renault driver. “I am willing to pay for my mistake,” mentioned the Italian.

Schumacher - thinking the unthinkable?

http://www.formula1.com/images/spacer.gifhttp://www.formula1.com/images/spacer.gifMichael Schumacher has admitted there is a chance - albeit a very small one - that he may not end his Formula One career with Ferrari, the team that has brought him five world championships.
http://www.formula1.com/images/spacer.gifhttp://www.formula1.com/photos/190x177/sutton/2005/d05chn484.jpg (http://javascript:;)
There has already been widespread speculation that Schumacher could retire at the end of the 2006 season if Ferrari’s performance does not improve, but now the German has given the media another possibility to consider - a move to a rival team.

"I said that at mid-season I will decide if I want to go on or not go on, and 99 percent I do this with Ferrari if I go on, I should say 99.9,” he told the press at Ferrari’s annual ski meeting.

In the past Schumacher has always pledged his future to the Italian team and he maintained that his comments were not an indication of any specific desire to leave Ferrari, but rather the result of nothing in life being certain.

“Who can look so far in advance, and who can tell what is going to happen, particularly in our sport where things sometimes move rather quickly?” he added. “And as I said, I don't want to lie and therefore I am saying the truth and 99 percent that is what it is and then we will see."

Schumacher, at age 37 the oldest driver on the grid, joined Ferrari in 1996, at which time they had not won a drivers’ title in almost 20 years.

The Guardian newspaper in Britain says the former BAR-Honda principal, who may be planning his own Prodrive squad for 2008, made a key move within his senior management team this week.

Prodrive 'sources' report that David Lapworth, who last week left the Subaru world rally team, will assume a 'senior' role in setting up Richards' grand prix project, according to the 'paper.

The Guardian's Alan Henry wrote : "Richards has recently held talks with Bernie Ecclestone and... Max Mosley about the detail of sporting, technical and commercial arrangements for the (2008) formula one world championship."

The only reason why I think Dave Richards is coming back is this:

Sources close to the company suggest that David Lapworth, who last week relinquished his position as the performance director of Prodrive's Subaru world rally team, is to take a senior role in setting up the planned new formula one operation,' it reports.

Michael Schumacher According to reports in the German press, Ferrari's Michael Schumacher may have now signed a new two-year deal to stick around in F1 until the end of 2008.

After missing the Bahrain win by a paltry 1.2 seconds, the 37-year-old is almost certain to line up at the scarlet team next year alongside McLaren defector Kimi Raikkonen, the reports said.

Schumacher's manager, Willi Weber, would not confirm the rumour when pressed by Bild newspaper.

"We will not be making any statements on this issue before the summer," he said.

"But it is clear -- positive results will not impact negatively on Michael's important decision."

Bild also quoted a 'McLaren insider' as reporting that Kimi Raikkonen has already decided to leave the team.

I reckon Kimi has signed else where already.
After Ron Dennis claimed "Kimi is replaceable"

While were on the subject

Ron Dennis may be trying to downplay Kimi Raikkonen's importance to McLaren but no so Martin Whitmarsh, who's determined to retain his services in 2007.

At Sakhir last weekend, Dennis downplayed reports of Raikkonen's suspected imminent departure to Ferrari, saying the Finn may not have a choice in the matter as McLaren may opt to replace him or his team-mate Juan Pablo Montoya.

"If Kimi or Juan Pablo think they will be better suited by moving to another team, then they can leave," Dennis said.

"Likewise, if I think McLaren can be better suited by signing someone else, then I could sign a new driver tomorrow.

However, Whitmarsh, McLaren's managing director, isn't so keen to play mind games with Raikkonen as he wants him and Fernando Alonso to make up McLaren's 2007 driver line-up.

"We have made no particular secret of the fact that we want Kimi to stay with us," he told Autosport magazine.

"We have got one Champion in the car next year and it would be nice to have a second with Kimi taking the title and being in the car alongside Fernando."

Meanwhile Dennis recently refuted claims that Alonso only signed with McLaren for the money.

"The reason he came to us was not to do with the money," he told the Mirror newspaper. "He would have earned more at Renault."

The speculation continues regarding Raikkonen
Kimi Raikkonen has fended off fresh speculation that his switch to Ferrari in 2007 is now signed and sealed.

Germany's Bild newspaper reported this week that the presently McLaren Mercedes driver will earn $150 million over the next five years at Maranello, complementing reports that Michael Schumacher has penned a new $91.2 million deal to stay in Ferrari-red until the end of 2008.

26-year-old Raikkonen, however, denied the latest gossip, which now includes reports that his managerial team may have visited the Toyota HQ in Cologne.

“I have not signed a new contract with anybody,” Raikkonen said, “(and) this Ferrari thing is written again and again, but there is nothing new. ”

Indeed, according to the Sport1.de publication in Germany, Raikkonen might have baulked at news that Schumacher - with a definite 'number one' clause in his existing Ferrari contract - is eyeing a new deal.

“I will not play second fiddle to anyone,” Raikkonen said.

Additional weight to the Raikkonen-Ferrari rumours
For more than a year now, Kimi Raikkonen's signature has appeared on a long-term Ferrari contract for 2007 and beyond.

That is the claim of a Ferrari 'source', who told Switzerland's Blick publication that the information is common wisdom up and down the corridors of Maranello.

“I am surprised that the (news) was not made official a long time ago,” the newspaper quoted the source as saying.

The red-coloured destination of McLaren's 26-year-old Finn has been spoken about at Ferrari 'for months', the source added.

Alonso to mcLaren
Kimi to Ferrari
Schumacher to Renault

Michael Schumacher's agent says that Renault are interested in signing the Ferrari driver if he leaves the team at the end of the season.

As Fernando Alonso has already agreed to leave Renault for McLaren, the World Champions will require at least one new driver for 2007.

Although it remains a distant possibility, Will Weber says that Renault have eyes on replacing Fernando with Schumi, who has less than a year remaining on his present Ferrari deal.

"I clearly said to Flavio that we won't talk with anybody before Michael decides if he will continue racing or not and it is only right that we speak with Ferrari first," Weber told Bild newspaper.

"We have known each other for a long time already and we talk together a lot. Flavio told me to talk to him if Michael decides to continue racing and before he signs for Ferrari.

"He would probably have an interest."

Schumi himself played down the speculation and has previously insisted that he will only make a decision on his future mid-way through the current season.

http://f1.racing-live.com/f1/img/lettres/let_actu_f.giferrari to announce Raikkonen deal at Imola?
Fact or fiction? News and rumour in brief...
16/04/06 10:32http://f1.racing-live.com/f1/img/vide.gif
Yet more speculation over Raikkonen and Ferrari
At Imola next weekend, Ferrari will announce that Kimi Raikkonen is to become Michael Schumacher's new Formula One team-mate from 2007. The information was published in Austria's Kronen Zeitung newspaper.

As ever at the pinnacle of motor sport, fiction is often more prevalent than fact. If you listen to many pitlane observers, some F1 teams are still engaged in grey-areas often brutally referred to as cheating.

Even with the threats of disgruntled carmakers on his mind, then, FIA president Max Mosley says he is determined to introduce standardised electronics from season '08.

In the latest edition of F1 Racing magazine, he wrote that a common ECU would make it 'absolutely certain' that no funny business is going on inside tricky carmaker-built software.

Meanwhile, closer to the actual asphalt, F1's huge test at Barcelona wrapped up on Friday, a week ahead of free practice in Imola.

Of note, four men did not enjoy their day in the Catalan sun. Honda's Rubens Barrichello left the circuit at lunch to get a trapped nerve in his shoulder checked out. Williams' Mark Webber destroyed his FW28 racer, and (on Thursday), Michael Schumacher experienced yet another Ferrari V8 failure.

Yuji Ide, though - Super Aguri's beleaguered rookie who waited on site all week - had more reason than any to feel forlorn. The Japanese did not turn even a single lap following technical hitches in the white garage.

I remember Kimi saying, "I will not play 2nd to anyone" and he is going to go to Ferrari?

I still think McLaren will have a new driver line-up for 2007.
Juan to Renault maybe?
