what would be better value for money, considering i got bout 3K to spend and dont wanna change any internalzz (if turboing). + i was wondering whether i can just put a H22a dohc head on f22b bottom end???
also... if i go ahead with an engine swap, do i need to change to a H22a gearbox??

turbo-ing will give u best bang for buck..
3 grand will not be enough for either conversion or turbo..
i'm not sure, but i don't think u can just bolt on a h-series on an f-series, as with any other series..
and yes, u will need to change to a h22a gearbox..

thanks
you dont need to change to a h22a box if you cant afford it, the F and H series boxes are interchangable. The h22a is prolly a better bet for 3k, i am assuming that the turbo kit wont have the best fuel management

yo, you can do a conversion for 3k or under i did my H22A conversion myself and only spent 3k all up.
my opinion is spend the dosh on a half cut and get it converted to H22a, being a twin cam it has a hell of a lot more potential and you wont regret it once you feel the VTEC pull bro.
think of it as this; the swap will give you a 70-80hp increase and more oppotunitys to gain hp elsewhere, the turbo0 conversion on your F may increase power levels slightly more than the swap but that will be its peak.
GO THE H22 I SAY... mine pulled a 14.636 stock
(good time with the F also mine did a 16.09, with 2.25inch exhaust when i had it)

i was able to beat a friends VTI-s, his was auto but had body kit and GT-wing weighing him down so judge for yourself.
if you have not gone to da track yet then expect bout a mid to high 16 if your auto. cos wit manual at least you can change your launch pattern to get a better time, saying that you def should get the swap cos turboing an auto is not to good i wrekon cos of over heating probs with the gearbox.

re your original question, id say turbo the f22. It responds awersomely to boost, and will probably produce much more power than the h22a. If you install it yourself you'll still need to pay for tuning and fuel management so keep that in mind. Turbo would be better, but would probably cost more. I got quoted around 6 grand to turbo my f22. Thats everything including labour, tuning and VAFC
