zen
10-08-2005, 09:38 PM
ive only owned my car for a little over a week so i couldnt really say. I didnt know it kicks in twice... i guess after 4800 it does start to "scream". I presume thats the VTEC doing its thing :) as far as i know the "VTEC kick" in a DC2 VtiR is a more gradual process.

also i back off just on 8 in my DC2. You think i can take it abit further??

Felix
10-08-2005, 09:44 PM
In a b18C Vtec first kicks in at around 4400 and then the secondaries kick in at around 6000RPM i think. If you cant hear it then take your air box cover off, then u will definately hear it kicking in.

spoondc2
10-08-2005, 09:45 PM
The Vtec doesn't kick in twice...... the noise you've heard when 5800rpm is the 2nd runner in the intake manifold opens, that's why you'll hear another noise.

Stock integra vti-r engage vtec in 4400rpm, 2nd runner opens at 5800rpm

superR
10-08-2005, 09:45 PM
back off at where ever peak power is. that way your not reving it out for no reason.

I was being sarcastic...If you have any idea what & how a Honda Camshaft looks & operates, you'd know that.

stock vtec = 4875 rpm
stock IAB = 5750 rpm
stock Redline = 8115 rpm

superR

Really? I thought it was the other way around. 4400 for the VVIS (butterfly opens on the second runner), and 5800 for the VTEC. I'll be interested to see my VTi-R on the dyno.

Mine doesnt kick, its a very smooth transition but it comes on at 4500 rpm as you can hear it. Makes 138kw at the wheels with a hondata ecu

honestly wot's the point of this thread?

oh, and wot the hell is this about vtec engaging twice?

i can't c the point of changing the stock vtec point unless u have sum decent mods.... else it'll kinda ruin ya ideal power band, that's y honda put it there in the first place. btw mine engages around 5,800 rpm i think.

I turned mine off because he was naughty yesterday.
Mine kicks in when the engine is warmed up. It switches to the 2nd cam profile at 6000rpm, and it also advances cam timing on its own.
